TVB Sister of Pearl - Enticing

Having watching 3 episodes to date (as that's all that has been aired in Hong Kong), I am simply intrigued by Sister of Pearl. The characters are all so unpredictable and ridiculously scary. I would NEVER want to be related or be friends with the Chu family.

Big Sister (sorry their names are too similar, so i don't remember)- Kiki Sheung

At first she just seems like the filial daughter who is not loved as much by her father. She does everything she can to make the family business run successfully but she is easily fooled by others such as her cousin. While those facts are true, but after the father dies, we find out that she was so filial and worked so hard, only so that he would give her all his fortune. When she realized that was not the case, she became furious. She suspected Jessica Hsuan's return was so that she would split the will with her. But all in all, she is at the moment, the least scary as she really is very simple minded and heavily relies on her husband.

Husband of big sister - Bowie Lam

The real master mind of the couple is Bowie Lam's character. He seems like a very good husband who shares his wife's woes and always tries to take the blame for her. But you can tell the way he handles things, that he is in fact VERY intelligent. The reason he married into the Chu family was out of family debt as his family owes their jobs to the Chu family. Low and behold, the head of the household of the Chu family dies and well...who is there to pay back? I read and through looking at pictures, he's going to be a REAL big villain as he sabotages the sisters and has affairs with them. Bowie Lam's character is those calmly scheming evil man who you just don't know when he is being sincere or when he is really innocent. The fact that he originally liked Jessica's character sparks lots of trouble.

Second Sister - Jessica Hsuan

On the outside she seems like just a poor widow with a son. But deep inside she is the smartest of the sisters and more wise. She lives a life full of secrets that even her son can tell lies on her behalf. First episode, the sudden impulse from giving in to a robber, to beating the beans out of him for taking her wedding ring just scares me. Everything she does is for this overall big plan and at the moment we still do not know what it is. I am unsure if she is returning to the family for money, or if it is for something else. I know her mother in-law treats her horribly but it seems like she is doing something on behalf of her husband as well. Either way, she is the most scariest of the sisters because she can attack you without you knowing. She is always one step ahead of others and can turn any situation into her favour. But knowing that she is the lead actress, I am sure she has some sort of reasoning for her actions that will make us, the audience pity her. I look forward to watching her story.

The cousin - Michael Tao

This cousin is smart but he pretends to be the "villain who always fails in his plans" or something like that. He wants to take the Chu family's fortune and has set up a huge plan to ruin them. At the same time, I have this slight feeling that he wouldn't be as evil as Bowie Lam. He seems like the joker-ish guy who plays around and he really is indeed very good at business. I hope he is only greedy. I think he is going to end up with Jessica. I don't know just yet.

Second Wife- Joyce Tang

She seems very pitiful as everyone in the family despises her and are plotting against her. She is working for Michael Tao and follows his orders. At the moment though, she doesn't seem smart enough to think on her own and that she really isn't scheming. She is only in for the money. Other than that, she herself is freaked out by the Chu Family. I think she will become scheming though, because living in the Chu household will make you go crazy and the only way to survive when EVERYONE in the house is against you is probably for her to fight fire with fire.

Third Sister- Macy Chan

While she is not scheming, but she is SO VIOLENT and so spoiled that she has this her way. Watching episode 3 just freaked me out. She is well educated and everything but when she's pissed she doesn't hold back. The way she throws tantrums and points knives at people. It just creeps me out. She isn't scheming but she acts on impulse. I have a feeling she will also become scheming and become more patient when she realizes what is going on in the family. The fact that her sisters are scheming..

I shudder at these thoughts.

And while it seems like this drama is like War and Beauty with all the "scheming," I don't think it is. At least as of right now, I can't judge that. Sister of Pearl has a splendid cast and the storyline at the moment is really intriguing. They always have these unexpected twists or climaxing scenes where you don't know what's happening next. It isn't like Moonlight Resonance/ Heart of Greed where climaxing = slapping or revelation that makes you cry. No I mean as in you are so captured by what's going on in the scene that everyone just stares to keep watching what happens.
I have some predictions but I am if they would come true. At the moment I just want to see what happens next. Haha!!

TVB Sister of Pearl 掌上明珠

I couldn't resist anymore after hearing/watching Myolie Wu sing the theme song for 掌上明珠. It's got this eerieness to it and the lyrics seem meaningful. I want to really hear the full version!

Also, since Born Rich, looks like the series I am looking forward to next is Sister of Pearl. At first I was very cynical towards this drama since the first trailer seemed to just push out all the really intense scenes. I really think that there'd be nothing left for us to see then. But after watching more and more of the clips, I am becoming really excited.

Like Born Rich and all the other dramas I promote (XP) I really like the cast and I think the cast has got some really strong actors. I have fallen for Bowie Lam since Gem of Life (and watching him off screen). I miss seeing Jessica Hsuan and also like her as well!! Kiki Sheung, Lily Jeh, Joyce Tang and Macy Chan are terrific supporting actors/actresses as well!

I really do want to watch this drama now..haha but too bad it is in May. I might not be able to follow it until my summer break comes...We'll see.

For now, I MUST share this video with a bit of the theme song sung by Myolie Wu! Ha ha! This once again proves my thought that Myolie is a more of a "mature song" singer. Miss these types~

Singing Fa Dans: Myolie Wu, Kate Tsui and Linda Chung

You may wonder, WOW, Lavendar_Bluez's first post since Born Rich...is going to focus on Fa Dans?!! Haha, don't get me wrong, I just know I tend to dramatize everything. So my first post back SHOULD have been really dramatic and grand.

Speaking of Grand, I know I promised you guys a grand post review on Born Rich. Sadly, I managed to somehow lose my review for it and became very upset that I lost it, that I slightly have put the post on hiatus. And I guess putting that post on hiatus meant putting the blogging stuff on hiatus. Well, what is it then that made me post again?

To be honest, I WAS going to post, but didn't want to do the graphics part. The whole searching for photos thing isn't any fun at all. But without visuals, I can't stand to post plainly either. Hence...something nice and easy came up.

A few weeks ago, I read that Myolie Wu, Kate Tsui and Linda Chung went onto the program "My Story, My Song." Well as most of you may know, I do like these fa dans and well I am a sucker for friendship stuff among actors. So I decided to look it up and well I got to see what was the beginning to the program.

I guess the idea was to have each of the fa dans sing their first song. All of them have a very different image on stage and I guess represent various types of women. But all three songs are love related, representing various approaches towards relationships.

Kate Tsui starts off singing 讀心術. I personally like Kate and see her to have potential to do well in acting. I also heard that she didn't want to become a singer, but apparently Miss Lok forced her into the field. Haha I don't know if Kate likes it, but I read about her getting lots of awards for best newcomer lately. Congrats to her! Singing wise, I understand that since it isn't something she really wanted to specialize in, I am not going to comment much. Will continue to support Kate Tsui in acting. Maybe one day she will get to choose her path more and do what she really likes.

Kate's image is the sexy female approach and sings songs that are more fast paced/techno/dancing. I think Kate is very outgoing and she does dance, so I can see why she's selling with this image. I kind of want to hear her sing slow songs though. I prefer to listen to slower songs...hehe

Myolie Wu sings 幸而 , which is one of my favourite songs from her. By far, Myolie's the best of the three probably because she has more experience so she does a better job at controlling her voice. I have always liked Myolie's voice as it's very strong with lots of emotion when she sings. "Fortunately" - this song to me, I get sick of listening to it afterawhile, but it's always very easy to pick up and listen again. It's got lots of nice climaxes and Myolie DOES sing with emotion. She's like the big sister of the three fa dans.

Myolie's approach I think is the more sensible women approach because I find her songs to be all very "women with a past." It's got the feeling that she's a mature women who's undergone enough relationships to know how to deal with things. Hahah that is just my opinion of the feeling I get in the songs.

Linda Chung sings 發誓, which has a very nice angelic tune to it. Linda's got better control in singing this song and I am not sure, but maybe the beginning the song was too high key for her. I can tell she has improved though. I don't listen to a lot of Linda's songs other than A Journey Called Life's theme. I've watched her music video "Day and Night" and it isn't bad. Linda is indeed very cute and innocent with that hairstyle.

Linda's image is more jade girl, innocent to love. Haha so it feels like it's for more young pure girls..haha that's all I can explain it by.

NOTE: These approaches I am talking about, is only the songs they sung in this video. Not about them in general since I have no checked up on their newest songs in a long while. So I dont want to make a generalization. But I do know all three songs they sung in this video and thus making comments on the approach of these three songs. Hehe.

Anyways, I just felt like time has really passed by. I think maybe it was just 2-3 years ago in which my mouth was wide open when I read that they were moving away from acting to being singers. Well, I obviously support the three to being actresses instead...and for my benefit, with acting I can visually see you for a good 25 episodes. With songs, well I just listen on occassion and watch your MV only once. Haha.

But either ways, I am looking forward to seeing more of this program since I think all three of these actresses shared some friendship moments. I would love to see the interaction. I am very "interactive" person..HAHA

11. 2009 Most Surprising Drama

“If it's surprising in a good way, In the Chamber of Bliss. I expected very little from Bliss, but I enjoyed its warm, touching take on politics, war, and the responsibility/dedication of a hero to his country.”-Annisa

It seems as if everyone has a variety of opinions on most surprising drama. I was surprised that the Gem of Life wasn’t too well received. I haven’t exactly watched it but with such a stellar cast, you’d expect it to garner good ratings and well good plot since they hyped it so much. Lots of money was spent on this drama and wow, 80 episodes? It did seem okay to me when I watched bits of it I.e Ada is superb actress!!! Maggie Siu and Bowie Lam had great chemistry. I was slightly shocked by the twist in one of the plots in which Elsa (? The name of Linda’s character) faked her rape and such, and got the pity of Ah Wor [Wong Hei]. I was like “Wow…what a scheming b*tch!” So obviously, the writers got kind of creative with their stuff. They had some nice music instrumentals as well. But why couldn’t I bare to watch it? 80 episodes feels very long and well it seemed pretty redundant in their arguments. There is so much pointless backstabbing done by the ladies for the men. I didn’t like Gigi Lai and Moses’s characters -- very annoying. They seemed to stem no growth or change in the drama. The whole age differences in the relationships kind of turned me off even more. Oh, but I did find Louise Lee’s plot about Alzheimer’s to be interesting. Her first reactions to it were all well acted as I really believed it. Too bad, Louise didn’t have much take on this 80 episode drama as I expected she would. Yet nonetheless though, I thought other people would have liked it since I mean, it’s got all the hong kong viewer’s favourite formula : pretty actresses + messy relationships + killing + yelling +scheming + louise lee [lols!] + reused cast [WAB/DOP]. I was surprised that Gem of Life I think, has the lowest ratings for a grand production.

12. 2009 Most Overrated Drama

Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Well when I thought of most overrated, I literally thought undeserving ratings. Lols, perhaps people think Gem of Life should have received even less than 28 points? Beyond the Realm of Conscience, I don't know yet. I am now just watching recommended scenes and then I am going to watch the final episode. Maybe I'll share later as to whether or not I think it would have garnered at 50 pts. Anyone know what scene in particular?

13. 2009 Most Missed Actor/Actress

Bobby Au Yeung

Haha I think there should be a Bobby series every year [hehe well all my favourites should have one series a year]. I want to see Bobby whether it be a comedy or dramatic. Bobby is terrific actor and he easily makes friends with people he works with. Love him in variety shows, tv shows, radio shows etc! Bobby where are you though?!! Hopefully we see you next year!!

14. 2009 Best Chemistry

Wayne Lai & Sheren Tang

Wayne Lai & Sheren Tang with three votes, close behind is Anita & Gallen with two votes, Charmaine & Dayo with two votes

I like all three pairings and all three have great chemistry. I love the obligation for each other between Hong Bo Kei and Chai Gau. They will help each other no matter what, willing to risk their lives for one another. My favourite scenes of the pairing were of course when both went their separate ways but still have this undeniable feelings for each other. They had a few scenes where its just this eye emotion between each other, when Chai Gau was seeking revenge. Bo Kei a few times expressed her pain of knowing Chai Gau was dead, how much she didn’t want to lose him again. It was very powerful and I liked that because they didn’t really fully explain themselves. Like some dramas, they have to have “dialogue” to express themselves and go into full detail. In Rosy Business, Hong Bo Kei and Chai Gau, were they lovers? We see they are willing to sacrifice their lives for each other and will always stand up for each other. You hear them express their feelings towards an action, but they haven’t exactly expressed dialogue towards each other on more personal terms. There weren’t any “dating” scenes but you just feel that there is something there.

15. 2009 Cast You Would Love to See Working Together Again

Tie: Rosy Business & Born Rich, each having three votes

For Rosy Business, I in particular really just want to see Sheren and Wayne again. This relates to what I said above. I want to see more romance for Sheren and Wayne because I think they could probably do it really well. That hug we saw in the trailer for Righteous Sea of Heroic Love, was a hug but it encompassed a lot of feelings into it. It’s like, the world is going to end. They are going to die, but they will die in each other arms. I know TVB’s shown that type of scene many times, but I think the context in which it occurred, seemed very -- emotional.

For Born Rich, the cast is stellar with the acting and chemistry. You can tell the cast really got to know each other with the fact that they went through some turbulence of illness together. The cast itself are all very friendly people and so they just work well together. They’re all very good actors and made Born Rich worth watching. I’d love to see the cast work together again, hopefully with good production crews. Born Rich had parts that did seem a little illogical but still not bad. That and lots of parts were cut out. To be exact, I find the filming for the drama didn’t go too smoothly in the sense that lots of bad luck occurred. I hope the next time the cast works together again, everything would turn out smoothly. Everyone is healthy and able to work to their full extent.

16. 2009 Cast You Don’t Want to See Working Again in 2010 and maybe 2011

Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Beyond the Realm of Conscience with three votes, Burning Flame 3 with two votes. I’m officially kind of sick of seeing the same combination over and over again. I get it, you guys were a classic group in a drama but I think after seeing you guys three times, I don’t really want to see you guys in the same group again. I understand that TVB really wants to ride of the popularity HOG and WAB have created, but I think its better for actors to work with variety of people. Actors need to be able to learn from others and if you give them the same people over and over again, what learning is left? They are missing out! Then there is the Charmaine and Kevin pairing. Did that sprout from FH2 or did they work together before that? In FH2, I found Charmaine and Frankie to be a better pairing, yes I like Charkie! Voila, I made my own fan group name. There currently is only one member, but hey I’m still a fan group. Anyways, I don’t even understand what there is to write about these two. The paparazzi just wanted to create some drama and made a horrible triangle of Niki - Kevin-Charmaine. It makes things so awkward! I have no feel for this pairing, so they ought to stop pushing them out together.

17. 2009 Most Refreshing Pairing

Dayo Wong & Charmaine Sheh

It’s refreshing because we haven’t seen Dayo in so long, well for me since I didn’t watch “Men Don’t Cry.” It’s also refreshing because in recent years they gave Charmaine a lot of the same pairings: Bowie Lam, Joe Ma, Raymond Lam and Kevin Cheng. For me, I still like Chilam and Charmaine pairing or even a Bobby-Charmaine! I guess because the overall cast and roles for You’re Hired was refreshing, made this couple stand out more as well.

18. 2009 Most Favourite TVB Held Event

TVB Gala with four votes. I’ve always looked forward to the singing and dancing segments of TVB Anniversary. It’s the time when everyone just comes out and works together and you see all the stars!! Like it does seem cheesy but it’s still interesting. I always looked forward to it but in 2005, they changed the rules. Some stupid audiences complained TVB Anniversary was too long. So then TVB cut it down -- that and I think TVB was trying to cheap out on stuff too-- and since then the TVB performances have been kind of boring. Nothing worth watching. But I still see what goes on every year since I honestly think TVB has been working on it, to slowly bring it all back out. Though TVB really needs to work on their anniversary skit -- it’s just garbage every year since 2005. I wonder what those executives are thinking when they are watching this in the audience. In the past, the camera would go onto the audience and you’d even see some western executives in their amused by the skit. Now when the camera goes onto the audience, well there definitely hasn’t been that many western executives and they have confused expressions. It’s funny because I bet they’re thinking “ What happened? Why am I watching a pointless show with no plot or pun and people throw food at each other?” Other than that, well the shows in it are still kind of draggy. I mean their so-called stunts are nothing

Their singing and dancing segments are not bad though, but what is with this skimpy outfit stuff? By the way, Bernice and the other actors who can dance [I.e Nancy Wu] should do like smaller group shows. One, the real dancers can actually get more screen time. Two, too many people, it looks very messy especially since it’s easier for mistakes to happen. My favorite segment of this year’s Gala is the 70s or 60s singing with Charmaine, Steven, Kenneth, Kiki, Linda, Aimee, Lee Heung Kam etc. That performance was cute and the choice of songs were good. Also, the singing quality was better I think than the segment about the wax dolls that come to life and dance. I still have “My Girl” and “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” stuck in my head. Ching Hor Wai was adorable! Haha this segment seems like something the higher level ah jies would have done, but it seems like they have settled down since 2005 . Also, I enjoyed the real singer, Hacken Lee to sing out the old tunes. He’s one of my favourite singers and his voice is great! Lols, it was so cute because he was like telling the veterans that were guests to sing along. The camera shoots to them and they are all mouthing out the lyrics because they love these tunes!

[And omg, VOH cast : Michael Tse & Louise Yuen are also same age as TVB. How neat! And I always thought they were joking when they said they were the same age. Some joke about being “37 all together” back then. I didn’t quiet get it till now.]

19. 2009 Best Dressed of the Year

TIE Tavia Yeung & Charmaine Sheh

“Charmaine Sheh.Always stunning and stylish in general but Lam Miu Miu's wardrobe amazed me. Not only was she wearing different outfits every scene but those outfits accentuated Charm's beauty. Plus, my mom wanted those outfits so that says alot. Lol” - TeddieBurr

I couldn’t agree more. No matter what event, these two have some pretty nice attires that I want to buy myself. But I don’t fit the look since I don’t look mature enough. Everyone complimented Tavia for her dress for TVB awards, so I’ll talk about that first. Her dress was this long flowing royal blue gown with some crinkled parts that embodies her chest and hips. It’s really nice with the added silver studs to the dress even thought the dress is kind of simple. It needed to simple though in order to match some of her diamonds she wore that night. Other than this event, I’m going through the AF gallery and she’s worn pretty nice jackets and dresses in general at events or in magazines.

Charmaine has more casual attires in the pictures but the design is still made a bit more fancy. I love what she’s worn this year, going from the prissy look for Lam Miu Miu to her current look to film Heaven and Earth. I love both looks of hers this year. It’s casual but slightly classy to her dresses and some of her attires. Especially when watching You’re Hired since all the clothes Lam Miu Miu wears are actually Charmaine’s clothing she brought to wear. Every scene she’s wearing something different and I love the skirts, pjs, coats, boots and gloves [?]!

As well, both Tavia and Charmaine are very confident in what they wear, so they look good in it.

20. 2009 Worst Dressed of the Year

Linda Chung with three votes. Bosco Wong & Liza Wang with two votes each. Linda I think looked good with her new hairstyle this year. But what happened at the 72 Tenants Media Conference and at the TVB Awards night? Those baggy spotted clown pants are just hideous! The long red sweater just looks wrong on her. I know the theme was maybe red for the media conference, but couldn’t you have worn something else that was red?? I felt bad for her, because she herself probably knew how weird her outfit was…the picture shows her lack of confidence in it. Then the TVB Awards night, she looked like she was there for a fashion show. The catty pointy image just didn’t seem appropriate for the special event TVB awards was. I just think, whoever put together her look for the night should be fired!

21. 2009 Biggest Change in the Actor or Actress

Tavia Yeung with three votes. Ron Ng closely behind with two votes. So at the moment, I am watching the scenes where Tavia's Yiu Kam Ling is scheming with her evil plots -- as recommended by Annisa [Thanks!]. I never realized how soft her voice is and I thought I would hear lots of screaming and yelling. I am glad though that she isn't using her voice to express her anger or something. A lot more eye expressions. I have to say, the script writer is very twisting in their events and make all these cruel heartless characters. It is very different to see Tavia play villain. And I finally saw the last episode and yes, I saw the evil Tavia. It's the insane eyes Tavia used to express the viciousness and I saw her face have little twitches to show her insanity. It's horrifying and I can't believe it's Tavia Yeung I'm watching. I'm use to her "righteousness" but definitely watching episode 31, I got to see the evilness I expected to see shown in her expressions. Haha but TVB sure zoomed in onto her eyes a lot, so it made me think she was killing with flashes of her eyes. I couldn't help but laugh when they did those flashes towards her eyes.

22. 2009 Actor or Actress You Feel the Happiest for

Sheren Tang

Sheren Tang with five votes, closely behind is Tavia Yeung with three votes. I feel happy for both Sheren and Tavia! Sheren more because she’s finally received the Best Actress recognition she deserves! She was ripped off of the award twice, in which both times she delivered an amazing performance. Yu Fei should have sealed the deal as the role was truly loved by the audience and the acting involved required lots of effort. She made Yu Fei alive with the way she talked, the way she looked at people, the way she had the aura of authority no matter what position she was in. She made it convincing that she was someone with a kind soul who was pushed to protect herself in the four walls of the forbidden palace. Sheren’s a wonderful actress and she truly deserves to be rewarded for it. I hope to see Sheren in more powerful roles in the near future! YAY SHEREN!!! WOOT WOOT!

I'm looking forward to all four dramas. Righteous Sea of Heroic Love in particular as it's the sequel to Rosy Business. It's a must watch to see Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang working together again! Woot!

2009 Year End Review Part 1

2009 had lots of buzz for the year with many hyped series, shocking results, unexpected mishaps but as well as news of new beginnings. Unlike previous years, instead of recalling what was best of the drama, I tried to change up my questions for 2009. For this yearend review I invited some special guests to take part in the decisions.

1.Most Shocking News of 2009

Chan Hung Lit’s Sudden Passing

“It was so sudden, barely a week earlier we were still seeing him singing and dancing onscreen.” - SehSeh

“Still in shock...RIP LIT GOR.” - TeddieBurr

This year’s most shock is the amount of deaths that occurred most shockingly to be the passing of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. But of course, Hong Kong entertainment industry has its own shocking death news which is the passing of veteran actor, Chan Hung Lit. Many recall that about a week before the news of the veteran actor’s death, everyone saw how energetic he was at the TVB 42nd Anniversary Gala. His dancing and singing with peers brought joy to the audience. Everyone was surprised by his booming voice and his ability to groove to the music. Nobody expected that this adorable veteran would be leaving them and will no longer be alive. We all go through life, age and death, but there weren’t any signs to when veteran Hung Lit reached the end of the cycle. It all happened so sudden that no one could really believe it. While veteran Hung Lit has left us, but he will forever be remembered by the hearts he’s captivated through his acting. He will be remembered for the knowledge and experiences he’s shared with others. Rest in peace Dai Yim Sang.

2. 2009 the News that Had your Concern the Most

“Honestly, I read news for the sake of reading news and knowing what's going on in the world. It's beyond me to know the story behind the cover page newspaper. Take the recent Amigo abusing his girlfriend incident, I know about it, but I take it with a grain of salt. This may sound self-centered but I have too much in my own life to worry about to go worrying and wondering about what truly happened. For an artist, it is their career and their prospect, both of which lie in their own hands. I only sit on the sidelines and see what they can present. Otherwise, I'll entertain myself with something else.” - Annisa

I must be overly sensitive or something, but I really was concerned about the health of the artistes. I guess it’s cause it really scared me knowing that someone I watched as I grew up, to possibly you-know-what. It seems silly since these people aren’t directly related to me nor are we even friends. But, I don’t know I guess I hope that people that I “know” of are healthy and living. I don’t care about their personal lives, or whether or not they abuse their girlfriend or if they’re getting married. Like yes, I’m happy you are happy. I pity you if you aren’t too happy. But most important is that there is still “life” to them. Maybe it’s cause I honestly do think things overly pessimistic and think of all the things that may happen. Like when I heard the Beyond cast started doing therapy due to the heavy headpieces, I actually thought “Oh my gosh, what happens if because of this there are future side effects? They’re going for therapy, what happens if they don’t get better?” When I heard Kate Tsui got into a car accident, I was like “what happens if she hurt her spine and didn’t realize that?” I think the longer one was when I found out Nancy Sit went to the hospital, the news made things very gloomy. Our Auntie Chi/Hao fell into coma, what now? But I am very glad now to know all of them are okay and up and running. Ha ha but looks like I’m the odd one out. Majority of the people say they don’t really care that much. Well whether or not people care for it, hopefully everyone has a healthy and happy new beginning starting from 2010! Not just entertainers be happy and healthy, but you guys too!

3. 2009 Drama that You Stalked the most:

Born Rich

Born Rich wins with two votes. Everything else received one vote I.e Beyond the Realm of Conscience, E.U, Mysteries of Love etc. To view my “stalk”-ings, can click the little tags at the bottom of my post that says “Born Rich” or “Roots of Evil” or “Grand Entrepreneurs” for the little researches I’ve done.

4. Rising Star of 2009

“Ngo Ka Nin. I've always noticed him but didn't grow to like him until this year, and I believe he has a lot of potential to one day lead a show.” - Annisa

Definitely, more people now know who Ngo Ka Nin is, since Rosy Business aired. I wonder if he has an English name? He went from cameo --and I mean CAMEO-- to supporting actor. He’s made quite a big jump and achievement. It may seem like supporting actor is just one level above cameo but there are plenty of people who are still “cameos” and can’t even stand out as an supporting actor. Cameos don’t really shine in the drama, they’re part of a group of people in the drama or just show up for certain scenes. Supporting Actor, they have loads more scenes than Cameos and are considerably more significant. In my terms at least XP

“Michael Tse
I never really favored him before, but after E.U. I LOVE HIM! He has earned my respect!” - TeddieBurr

He’s become extremely popular, I’ll give him credit for that. As of this day though, I still don’t get the hype for Laughing Gor but he deserves the recognition at least. Is he my rising star? No, but I do think he is suited for the title. Thought I think Michael’s rise began in 2006 with La Femme Desperado. The role of Laughing Gor made him more popular though.

“Started liking Kenneth after Born Rich.” - TkN

He didn’t really shine out this year as Man In Charge didn’t do too well as his leading role drama. Meanwhile in Born Rich he wasn’t too dominant in the drama as there were many strong/ grand actors in it. Nonetheless though, like TkN I started to really like Kenneth after watching Born Rich. He’s sooo adorable!

“Susan Tse! She is (or was) a rising star in TVB this year :3” - FBI

Susan Tse has definitely rise in everything this year as she’s left ATV and moved to TVB! The joke has always been, and I think is very true: An actor or actress will always be more popular at TVB than in ATV. The reason being that no one watches ATV so no matter how good an actress or actor you are, you wouldn’t be acknowledged because no body knows you. ATV has only made a few dramas that were actually popular but has eaten the white fruit dozens of times. The moment Susan switched over to TVB and added to the fact that she’s a wonderful actress, she instantly shot up the popularity scale. She’s already reputable to begin with, but geez the rest of us younger people had no clue of who she was until we’ve seen her in a TVB drama. Her acting efforts wont be wasted because at least people are watching. Susan herself has also came out with two wonderful roles: Big Housewife and Grand Empress Dowager Kwok! Her acting made these roles believable and well received by the audience. I see her everywhere now, and while she’s not too entertaining to watch live [I think she’s still kind of shy...] …lols she’s terrific when you give her a script!

“Suki Tsui. She was likable in [Rosy Business], but unfortunately she took the easy way and decide to be a real ‘siu lai lai’.” - Sehseh

I liked Suki in Rosy Business as well, but I don’t know if she is still acting now.

5. Most Welcomed Back Artiste

Gallen Lo

ROFL, Gallen Lo wins with two votes! Guys, what happen to being fair? But as everyone else only got one vote, I can only let Gallen win.

Many people say Gallen Lo’s return last year doesn’t count. I can see why, in comparison, the role of Yat Ming seems more juicier and challenging. Gallen has made me from seeing him as only “big brother” to seeing a more devious man to be careful of. Every time the camera stops at his face, it’s not just his face that shows he’s evil but its his eyes and I honestly think he was “into” the role. He seemed like he WAS plotting evil ideas in his mind. Love Gallen Lo!

6. 2009 Drama with the Best Instrumental Background Music

Tie - Beyond the Realm of Conscience & Born Rich

“If I have to choose, it would be Beyond the Realm of Conscience. I especially appreciate the piano instrumental for Windmill because although it is a lullaby, the instrumental sounds very elegant and nostalgic.” - Annisa

Seems like not many people listen to instrumental background music. Two votes each for BTROC and BR. I can’t say much for BTROC since I haven’t exactly watched it yet, but I like the “Windmill” tunes. Now for my crazy talk about the background music for Born Rich.

This drama has lots of background music that are all very fitting to the scene. I find some of them are music versions of the theme song and sub song but they are different paced. There are some that are intense music that express different feelings or scenarios -- you can tell TVB hasn’t put this much effort into music variations in their dramas since War and Beauty. Many dramas have usually used music versions of their theme song in the background ..even if they don’t exactly fit in to the scene. For Born Rich, it’s just really solid and seems specially made for the drama [aside from the ones with singing in it]. Here’s a small sample : [I’m crazy? I know =]]

7. 2009 Best Costume Drama

Rosy Business

“Rosy Business. Need I say more?” - Annisa

“Rosy Business for solid acting, Beyond the Realm of Conscience for costumes and settings.” - SehSeh

No doubt Rosy Business is the best Costume Drama of the year. Thought it’s said to have copied the mainland drama’s “Dai Jak Moon,” it was still highly received and garnered majority of the cast and production crew, lots of awards! I like Rosy for it’s acting and the storyline. I like the bits of history lessons thrown into it about farming, the cockroach infestation and the Japanese war. It didn’t solely focus on just one topic, so I didn’t become too tired or bored of it. I also love the little twists here and there. Who would have expected 3rd wife to suddenly burn the most important piece of evidence? Yet who would have expected the mother in-law to believe what the 4th wife said to be true? Added to the interesting storylines and script, I also really liked the cast. I began liking Ron even though he didn’t have that big of a part. I enjoyed Sheren and Wayne’s chemistry…even though no love has sprouted out. I just love the scenes of Sheren and Wayne…solid and good actors. Susan Tse, Kara Hung and Kiki Sheung were also great as the “sisters” of Sheren. All of the roles were clearly differentiated from the start. Very clearly defined.

Close Behind : You’re Hired & Born Rich

Really?! I thought You’re Hired would have won. I sort of felt E.U didn’t have the same variety as the ones before it…like no more cases…only one undercover case. Then I guess because I read the spoilers about Laughing Gor so it defeated the purpose for me. As well, I didn’t like the new pairings for Ron and Samuel either. But it was good acting for majority of the cast.

9. 2009 Best Comedy

You’re Hired

Have I posted my review for this drama yet? I don’t quite remember but I do recall typing one up. I really liked You’re Hired and I guess it aired at a really good time too. I have recently found my fan-ism for Charmaine again! It was thanks to Super Trio -- in other words variety shows that reminded me why I use to like Charmaine a lot and now like her again. But like, before I go on like a big story => lols I’ll save this for a spotlight post [tee hee she’s on my favourites list], I better move myself back to talking about the drama. I have to say You’re Hired is a good comedy because of the chemistry between Dayo Wong and Charmaine Sheh. Dayo himself is a terrific actor and a comedian. He doesn’t try hard to be funny, he has a natural sense of timing and expressions. He just pulls off a very serious face but what comes out of his mouth is cruelly funny! Charmaine, I miss her playing these roles as well and I think she was really into filming with this partner. I read an interview translated by SehSeh, where Charmaine literally thought exactly the same as what she said when dealing with Mat Tai Song. HAHA! So it made it overall, very amusing to watch. The characters in the drama are also very unique and weird in their own way. So its interesting to watch the relations amongst the characters.

10. 2009 Drama You Didn’t Bother Watching

Tie between Winter Melon Tale & King of Snooker

Wow, I forgot King of Snooker was even a 2009 drama. Winter Melon Tale looked really bad to begin with and you can just expect a lot of CG. I feel bad for the cast: Liu Kai Chi, Louisa So and Sunny Chan deserve much better treatment than this. King of Snooker, I mean I kind of like Adam Cheng and I can see him probably doing a drama like this but Patrick Tang…not so much. I’m not too fond of his acting.

Flora Chan was asked to film in Born Rich but she had to turn it down because she still felt she needed to take close care of her daughter

I'm thinking she would have gotten the role as Connie. I can see her playing this type of role and I really like Flora as well! Hmmm.... I wonder if the male star playing Marcus would have changed? Haha..I'd also have the chance of seeing my Gallen-Flora pairing as well!!

That's why the cast is known to constantly ask "Why?" during filming. One is to clarify what the scene was before and Two, no one really knows what was going on.

Anita Yuen apologetic to the scriptwriters of the drama

as she constantly pestered them with questions. When she felt something was wrong, she'd find them and force them to explain it or fix it right in front of her.

Hahas, Anita is truly a dedicated actress.

Angie was not supposed to die

Angie (Kenix Kwok) was to marry Marcus (Ray Lui) and live happily ever after. But the rest of the cast such as Ray Lui, Jamie Chik, Anita Yuen and Nancy Sit felt this conclusion would be poorly received. Many viewers do not like the idea that the "third wheel" wins over the wife and gets a good ending. Also it would send off the message that having an "affair" is okay.

I guess I can see why they think so, I mean it would be kind of daring since Connie is portrayed as a really good wife. She shouldn't be left and I guess HK viewers don't like it to be too realistic to life? I mean, we've heard and read plenty of news in which wives that don't do anything wrong at all but their husbands leave them and marries someone else. I guess viewers want TVB dramas to be more fantasy and not overly reflective of society? But I did happen to see a trend that the moment Marcus began his affair, ratings were much poorer while the moment Angie loses, ratings are much better. LOLs.

Mu Ma dies of a heart attack

Originally when Nancy Sit fell ill, she suggested to the producer and scriptwriter to write her off. But the producer and scriptwriter didn't want to as the charcter, Mu Ma was suppose to save the day. As well, the death of the character would have too much impact on the series and the characters.

??? LOLS. She didn't save the day in the drama, which I prefer because then it'd be unbalance to the character if she did. But I can see why they couldn't kill the character. It would greatly affect the sanity of the children, Rene and Marcus. They might even try to kill Yat Ming (Gallen Lo) themselves. As well, Yat Ming would have felt extremely guilty for causing her death and then there wouldn't be that ending we saw. It would have turned completely different.

Added to that fact, Nancy Sit's scenes were reduced by 1/2 so that she can rest. The remaining scenes were transferred to Anita Yuen, who plays her daughter with similar personalities.

But I still felt I saw very little of Anita Yuen. lols..am I greedy? But I guess not all scenes were transferable. I honestly felt that Mu Ma was suppose to have some significant scenes...Sa Bo Jai (Kenneth Ma) & Yat Ming really likes her, along with the rest of the characters. She was fiery at the beginning, I wonder what WAS suppose to happen? Also, without Mu Ma it seems like Benz Hui & Angelina Lo's character lost all value. I mean, they are "big" supporting actors and actresses. They barely showed up in the drama...o.0 Rumour is that Benz's character was suppose to end up working for Yat Ming. He then takes part in spoiling Yat Ming's plans as he felt guilty when facing Mu Ma. I like Benz Hui XP

Lau Siu Ming almost lost his life while filming

The waves was really strong that day and he was to just like on shore for filming. But after a few waves he suddenly found himself pushed out into sea and he began to desperately gasp for air. But everytime he cried for help, the sea water would just fill up his mouth. Eventually he felt himself weighing down and then all he remembered was that he was holding as tightly as he could to a rock. Luckily, the production crew weren't stupid and afterawhile noticed something was wrong as well, and went out to look for him. Everyone jumped into the sea to try and find him, but the waves were so strong it was difficult. Eventually they did find him and everyone went to pull him out to safety. Any longer though, we would have lost a veteran!

Deleted Scenes?
- In a radio interview with Nancy Sit, Anita Yuen revealed that the producer had cut out a scene that expresses the strong relationship between Connie, Marcus and Rene. It was after they found out Marcus' father had an affair. Anita really liked the scene and enjoyed filming it,but she trusts that the producer must have cut it out for a reason.
OMG, but I love the family relationship the most! The cast has this chemistry to them that it doesn't seem like they were acting. I'd love to have seen it..XP
- Yat Ming says, "阿妈，我扶你返房. (Mom, I will go with you to your room)"
  
  A whole chunk must have been cut out, or they changed the way in which Yat Ming was with Mu Ma. Apparently the cast constantly broke into laughter when ever Gallen Lo was supposed to calm Nancy Sit down. As strangely enough, there were many scenes where it would just end with Yat Ming saying, "阿妈，我扶你返房." Everyone just thought in their mind that Yat Ming was trying to do something to the mother.
  
  So the moment the director called "Cut!" Cast members would just ask out loud "又上房，上房做什么？ (Going to her room again? Go to her room to do what?!" Thus there would be many NGs for this scene as the cast can't help but break out into laughter.
Like Anita Yuen, I'd love to see the NGs for this scene. I personally don't recall there ever being that line. Did they just cut out the scene entirely or did they eventually change the script?! LOLS. But I don't think it would be released. Is it just me, or did TVB not promote Born Rich? I mean, there's sooo little youtube videos of the drama. There's no full version of the theme video. AND TVB didn't even treat the cast to dinner X[.

Gallen Lo Kiss Scene with Anita
Apparently there was one kiss scene Gallen and Anita had to retake for the drama and the rest of the cast decided no to leave and watch them film it. They all watched with intent and claimed there was full of emotions in the kiss scene, but this was after the 2nd week of the drama.

Well, by then they knew they were brothers and sisters, so they knew they couldn't kiss. What led to it? ROFL,the way they said it made it seem as if they were peeping toms. I wonder what this scene was suppose to be like?WHAT kiss scene are they talking about?!!

Sa Bo Jai Confronts Ah Yan

Due to the fact that Angie & Marcus's wedding scene were cut, I guess all other scenes were cut out too. I'm predicting that the wedding scene was suppose to be the last finishing scene of the drama. I have pictures of Sa Bo Jai (Kenneth Ma) confessing his love for Ah Yan (Sharon Chan). The pictures for that scene shows that everyone in the drama to be in there...if it wasn't significant, there's no need to have everyone. Also, I'm assuming since Rene and Topman weren't in it...and they are Marcus sister and best friend..maybe originally Rene and Topman were suppose to die? haha...

2010 Sales Presentation

Well I'm finally on break, and originally this was going to be a special Born Rich post, but due to anger in finding pictures...and still not able to find the picture I want, decided to share my thoughts for the 2010 series. I know I'm a bit late, but being late is better than not posting anything at all. Haha, I don't even know if people still read In Love With TVB anymore. LOLS! Anyways, after watching the 2010 Sales Presentation when it released, I had quite a lot of things I wanted to comment on. So here it goes...

Cops - Felix Wong, Michael Miu, Jessica Hsuan, Nancy Wu

I really would like to see Felix Wong in TVB drama again. And for some reason, I'm thinking about Last One Standing looking at the trailers. Both love the same women - Jessica Hsuan. Both seemingly evil people...don't know who is evil and who is the real good guy. They are friends, but one betrayed the other. Doesn't this sound like Last One Standing? Roger Kwok and Kevin Cheng??! The story looks interesting, and I want to watch it. But I don't think I'll end up watching it the moment it airs. I think I'll wait to see the ratings...but I don't think the ratings would be too high. As with all "male - dominant" dramas i.e Last One Standing, Dance of Passion, Born Rich etc. for some reason the viewership isn't that great. Plus, for some reason I'm not a fan of cop dramas ...at least not anymore. I use to be.

Wu Jie Monk - Bosco Wong, Kate Tsui, Michael Tse, Sammul Chan

Nope. As much as I like Kate, this drama seems like it's going to be really stupid. Whenever TVB attempts these type of "life" things, it just doesn't come out right. Like, they've always tried to incorporate the life stuff..but to have a theme ALL on it...is NO. That and I've lost my liking for Bosco. I don't know why, but I just don't seem to really care for him anymore. So, I won't watch this drama AT ALL.

Seven Days of Love Next Door - Bobby Au Yeung, Yoyo Mung, Bowie Lam, Krystal Tin, Sonjia Kwok, Myolie Wu, Sammuel Chan

I was actually first captivated by it because I thought I saw Gallen Lo. Turns out, it wasn't him but Johnson Chan far away. I don't think it's going to work out, this drama. But if they do, I might watch it. One, it's got lot of cast members I really like. I love to see Bobby & Yoyo again!! Bowie Lam, lols he doesn't seem as manly ..more like a "house man" role. But I think the cast we see in here, is only used to sell the drama and majority of them won't actually be in it. So unless the cast continues to be the same, I wont watch it.

Five Flavours of Life - Esther Kwan, Roger Kwok, Derek Kwok, Michelle Yim

I think I'll see how the ratings go. I really like Esther and I have a feeling it's one of those really good periodic, time changing sort of dramas. Like it reminds me of stuff like Country Spirit, Silver Chamber of Sorrows, Rosy Business feels. The good period dramas that are worth watching. So hopefully it is good!

Mysteries of Love - Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma, Bernice Liu

I'm scared of being disappointed, because it won't live up to Galileo standards. Haha, but the cast is worth watching and this would be my first official FungYi series. I didn't really get Twin of Brothers, I don't know why.... And the idea of two girls per guy made me laugh. Also, will TVB actually put effort into drawing up cases that really require the knowledge of physics to understand? Like, I don't want some simple cases that they tried to over complex, when it's not necessary. LOLs. Hmm...I think I will watch the first episode to see how it goes.

Legend of Pu Song Ling - Steven Ma, Linda Chung, Fala Chen, Sunny Chan

Strangely enough, I'm curious to see how this turns out. I guess it's because I grew up watching Dark Tales, which I really liked. At first, when I heard they were filming I was really not interested. It seemed like yet another one of TVB's stupid fairytale -CG dramas but the trailer surprised me. It looked good and I thought of Gods of Honour sort of dramas. I think I will watch the first episode and see if I'm captivated.

Female Fist - John Chiang, Liu Xian

What is with all these Wong Fei Hung renditions or related stuff? But either way, I'm not going to watch this. One, I only know the female actress is an Olympic medalist...other than that I don't really know. So I don't think I'll want to watch it. Two, I'm not too fond of John Chiang. So end of story.

Twilight Investigation - Wong Hei, Linda Chung

I hope they change the english name. LOL, the trailer looked really cute! Linda Chung was really cute! Best part "OMG, it's Lam Fung (Raymond Lam)!" Haha, sorry that's funny. And it seems like Wong Hei will be yelling at Linda's character...so it'll be amusing to watch. Will I watch it? I think I'll watch more trailers, and see if I'm going to try it. I feel like "Ding Ding" is back and even more livelier. I will see how the first episode goes.

Growing Through Life - Raymond Lam, Damian Lau, Bosco Wong, Toby Leung, Cecilia Yip

I only like Cecilia Yip...and she's not even leading. LOL. Many dramas with the word "Life" in it, hasn't been that great : Life's Art, Gem of Life, Life Begins at Forty, The Stew of Life, Drive of Life. This is the same concern for Five Flavours of Life as well. The male leads, I don't know I've slowly moved away from Raymond and Bosco. Did I even watch a drama with them this year?? Maybe that's why. But the trailer, reminded me of the Drive of Life...and well DOL wasn't that great for me. I tried watching DOL for the female cast but that couldn't even save it for me. =[
Won't watch it.

Here Comes the Princess - Charmaine Sheh, Moses Chan, Susanna Kwan, Kenneth Ma, Linda Chung, Fala Chen

Wow...I'm really seeing Susanna work with Moses a lot. The cast feels more refreshing ..but nonetheless, still sort of the same cast. HOG/MR cast (Moses, Linda, Fala, Susanna,Louis, Lee Heung Kam) again. I was first captured because they mentioned the "Kam family". I instantly thought of Virtues of Harmony and was going to be upset that they were going to try and remake the "Kams." But I don't think they cant replace our beloved Kam family of Virtues of Harmony. But main reason I want to watch it is that it's kind of a comedy with Charmaine Sheh and Moses Chan. I'm just afraid it'd bloop since it reminds me of the previous series of fighting couples ...and to be honest no pair does it best than Esther Kwan and Bobby Au Yueng. lols. I'll watch the first episode to see.

Forensic Heroes 3 - Kevin Cheng

Well, TVB made a bad second sequel, why are they going to make a third? And I heard Bobby Au Yeung's not even in it. The sales presentation didn't even show what's to come. I think I just saw past clips form FH 1 and 2. Well TVB, Kevin Cheng can definetely not capture me to watch it. And it's not FH without the originals. And TVB, your cases have been pretty predictable... so I'm not going to watch your third version of FH.

Righteous Sea of Heroic Love - Sheren Tang, Wayne Lai

This would be my drama of the year. I am watching this one for sure. I think there's going to be a lot more chemistry for Sheren and Wayne in this sequel. They are actually going to have romance, hopefully!! *crossing my fingers* but I think it'll be weird since Wayne is married, so maybe not as much. But everything about it looks good. Cast. Plot. Time Era. Theme. Love it all. Will be my anticipated drama of 2010 unless I find out there's more. At the moment, this drama is it! My main reason of watching is for Sheren & Wayne's acting. Love them, superb!!! Just got to watch it! Haha!!!

Been very busy lately and dont have time to post reviews. But saw today's episode of Born Rich. OH MY GOSH, poor Rene (Anita)!!!! ARGHHHHH!!!! She and Topman (Joe) were so cute and sweet. I'm actually touched by Topman. He really does love her. They were going to get married!!! But now.....

And So Bo Jai (Kenneth Ma) and Ah Yan (Sharon Chan). It was so sad seeing them. They like each other but now Sa Bo Jai has to leave...

Marcus (Ray Lui) became suspicious and began piecing things together with the help of Topman. This man [as in Yat Ming (Gallen Lo)] who calls them brother and sister everyday, who seems to constantly talking a lie without a single sign of hesitance or fear. What will this man do next??? Who will he be harming next???

Oh my gosh, I love this drama!!! So much has happened it’s unbelievable… MAJOR SPOILERS ALERT!!!!

There’s No Turning Back

Despite the fact that Mu Ma (Nancy Sit) made Connie (Jamie Chik) and Marcus (Ray Lui) stay in their rooms to talk things out, she was disappointed when she found out Connie and Marcus’s set decision on a divorce. Not allowed to go to work, Marcus goes to him room where Connie is slowly packing her things. I hated how Marcus was talking about the situation, as if trying to gain Connie’s forgiveness. Saying how it is his fault that he fell in love with two women and that he can’t control it. I loved how Connie stood her ground though and had this bitter attitude towards him. How she claimed that women put love and faithfulness on the same scale. How can he say that he loves her when he has an affair? How can he say that when he was with Angie (Kenix Kwok), he was thinking about Connie? This entire time Connie felt all guilty and tried so hard to save the marriage, only to find that Marcus was already turning to Angie. I love the cold look she gave him and it suits him right but at the same time though, we see that Connie is in so much pain still.

Yat Ming (Gallen Lo) though is also to be angry with. He told Tiger (Vincent Wong) to leak out news to the reporters claiming that Cosmo Bank was reaching financial problems and also the fact that Angie and Marcus were having an affair. I use to really like Yat Ming, I mean yes he was a swindler but he was one with morals. He never wanted to harm someone, but as we’ve seen throughout the series, he’s not just acting on greed. He wants to take over Cosmo Bank and practically everything else. First step though was to influence Mu Ma into pressuring Marcus. Yat Ming told Yat Sum and Mu Ma that the only way to change Marcus was to threaten to strip him of his title as CEO of the company. And he just uses Mu Ma like a chess piece knowing that she’d do anything to keep the family from break apart. Yat Ming just does little actions and things just fall into play. It’s unbelievable how smart this guy is, yet also how devious he can be.

Now the paparazzi is following the Cheuk Family and Angie, questioning them about the affair and such. Chuk Sir (Lau Siu Ming) speaks up for his daughter, instigating that the real third wheel was Connie! Angie drags her father away but the press has enough gossip just from what he said. Mu Ma who obviously read the reports was angered and went to track Chuk Sir and Angie at the restaurant. She was tired and frazzled by this time. She wasn’t there to yell, but to remind Angie of something which I thought was really significant to their relationship:

Mu Ma: Your mom left you when you were very young and Chuk Sir, this grown man did not know how to raise you. That is why I dealt with a lot of your personal things, I even treated you as if you were my own daughter because I feel that a little girl who has lost her mother is very pitiful .

Angie: Auntie, I know you love me. (But doesn’t know what else to say)

Mu Ma: Do you remember that time you saw Rene in that dress and you though it was really pretty, and I immediately bought the same one for you? Do you remember?
Angie: (smiles) I remember.

Mu Ma: To be honest, anything that you like and I can give it to you, I will do my best to give it to you. But this time I can’t (referring to Marcus). Because if I give it (Marcus) to you, my family would break apart.

(Angie and Chuk Sir have guilty looks)

If you still have me, this old lady in your heart. If you still remember how I loved you, carried you, bring you to school and played with you…Angie, I beg you, please let go!

This scene really shows why Angie is loved so much by Mu Ma and how strong their relationship is supposed to be. Mu Ma has loved Angie so much and treated her so well, she doesn’t want any return. She only wants Angie to let her keep her family together. Her reference to Angie’s past is what will become of her grandchildren. If this divorce does carry through, Wai Wai and Kei Kei will be just like Angie. They will lose either of their parents due to the divorce. It’s very pitiful. Mu Ma loves Angie enough to give her anything she wants but if she allows her son to continue on with Angie, instead her (Mu Ma) entire family with be broken. She will lose her daughter in law and she will watch her grandchildren be pitiful because they can’t have a happy family.

Connie and Mu Ma’s mother-daughter in law relationship has finally become better and its so sad to see that now they can no longer be ones anymore. Mu Ma does whatever she can to keep the family together whether it be through yelling, lecturing or even little plans in front of the paparazzi. It’s obvious that Mu Ma doesn’t just want her grandchildren, she wants Connie to still be her daughter in law because otherwise there would have been quite a few actions she didn’t have to do. She seems very silly trying to take the grandchildren to Canada, but to be honest it’s realistic. What mother wants to see her son be in an affair? What mother wants to see her family break apart? What mother wants to know that she will never see her beloveds again? It’s irrational but I guess if this were to really happen to you, I think a lot of us would also do silly things. I feel so bad for Connie, I mean she’s been married for ten years, only to find her husband no longer loves her. Jamie Chik has acted this really emotional side of Connie that makes me really pity her. How she really wants to stay strong yet can’t help but cry when she sees the way Marcus doesn’t even care about losing his position and would rather go and see Angie.

Connie, unable to bear this any longer decides to leave earlier than expected to take Wai Wai and Kei Kei to England. Mu Ma tries to stop her, saying that she will call Marcus back but Connie says there is no point. Even if she kept the person, she wouldn’t be able to keep his heart. She has lost all hopes and is just accepting the fact. Mu Ma continues to deny it and asks her and the children to stay. She knows Marcus is not worth Connie’s love but to separate the children from the family is too pitiful. Connie meanwhile claims that she cant be separated from the family. The pain and the tears were just releasing as it does hurt her to know Marcus loves Angie so much. Connie really has nothing left but her children. Mu Ma, a woman who rarely admit she is wrong and never wants to look bad, actually fell to the floor and begged. Connie went down to support her along with all the children. The two women took blame and owe each other. It’s just such a pitiful scene. It had to come to this level because of Marcus. His infidelity and I honestly feel that he doesn’t care about how Connie feels. He’s just letting her leave and he doesn’t really think about how his actions hurt Connie. He claims he can no longer put Angie in so much pain and that he can’t “goo fu” (waste? Lol I don’t know the English word) her. It just bothers me, that why doesn’t he seem to ever think about how much pain and grief he’s caused Connie?

Angered by Marcus’ persistent decision to go see Angie, Mu Ma who has constantly warned him that he’d lose his position as CEO, officially told Marcus that the board of directors of Cosmo bank just informed the press that Marcus has been demoted. Aside from that, Mu Ma no longer wants to see Marcus until he fixes what he’s done. Until he brings the family back together. Mu Ma officially kicks Marcus out of the house.

Yat Ming is Evil-Ming!

The following episodes were more focused on Yat Ming. It turns out there is someone out there that does know about Yat Ming enough for Chuk Sir to realize Yat Ming is a fraud. Chuk Sir begins questioning Sao Bo Jai (Kenneth Ma) about his past and other things about Yat Ming. Sai Bo Jai is surprised by the sudden questioning and runs back to Yat Ming, warning him that Chuk Sir is growing suspicious and might know something. Yat Ming decides to find Chuk Sir who was fishing, and was not surprised that Yat Ming had come to find him. Chuk Sir reveals that he knows Yat Ming is actually a fake. He tells Yat Ming to leave the Cheuk family and Hong Kong, in return he will give him millions of dollars. See, sometimes I’m so confused with Chuk Sir. Does he hate the Cheuk family or not? Why does he instigate so much, yet sometimes he really does try to help? I love Gallen’s expressions in this scene. The little hidden shock and the acting of denial. Yat Ming tries to walk off, claiming that Chuk Sir has made a mistake or is joking with him. Chuk Sir tells Yat Ming that if he was really Sung Hei’s son, he can do a DNA test. Yat Ming refuses and the two have a little tumble back and forth. Yat Ming manages to fling off Chuk Sir’s grab on the arm but Chuk Sir falls backwards. Yat Ming reaches out to grab Chuk Sir’s hand but Chuk Sir slips….

Gallen Lo portrayed the emotions of fear so well, the eyes and the quivering. The handshaking and the disbelief. All so realistic, I love Gallen Lo! News breaks out that Chuk Sir is missing, Sa Bo Jai confronts Yat Ming to find out what happened. Yat Ming tells him the truth and Sa Bo Jai becomes worried. Both of them are afraid they would be in trouble but Yat Ming tries to tell Sa Bo Jai to stay calm. Sa Bo Jai says that since it was just an accident, Yat Ming should tell the police. Yat Ming refuses because if he does, then they will discover that he isn’t really Cheuk Yat Ming. By chance, Chuk Sir’s body floats back to shore and the corpse is found by pedestrians. The police claim that based on the evidence of finding the fishing gear on top of the rocks, it is most likely that Chuk Sir’s death was an accident. Chuk Sir had most likely slipped ….

Chuk Sir’s death came as a shock and Angie who was mourning her father’s death had the support of Marcus. Two significant groups arrived at to this funeral. The first group were what I call, the “People who Are Wrongly Rejected.” Connie, Topman (Joe Ma) and Matthew attended together and did the whole bowing ceremony together. Connie shouldn’t have been divorced. She’s a great women who I admit doesn’t exactly deal with things on more personal level, but she’s always done things for her family and the business every step of the way. It hurt me to see Connie having to see Marcus stand behind Angie when they were telling her to “Ji On Sun Binh.” Basically in Chinese tradition, at funerals only family is suppose to be the ones to the side of the coffin. Everyone else stands in front to bow three times and then give their condolences to the left towards the family. Marcus standing behind Angie was like saying Marcus already claiming Angie as wife. Topman is such a sweet guy and he like Connie has been filial to the Cheuks and working for the bank since he was a little boy. I actually like Topman and Rene (Anita Yuen) more now. Sadly, despite Topman solving all the problems and proving his love to her, Rene obviously doesn’t love him back. Thus Topman was rejected. Matthew, although we don’t know him too much but we do know that he loved Angie and helps her when he can. Angie rejected Matthew because she still loved Marcus. Sigh, in a way, these are the nice people.

The next group, are the “evil men who have done something wrong.” This group is Yat Ming, Sa Bo Jai and Tiger. Technically Yat Ming is the evil one and the leader of the group. He was the one who technically caused the death of Chuk Sir and he is also the one who is doing some slightly unethical deals within Cosmo Bank. Tiger is basically following Yat Ming’s orders in the bank. Sa Bo Jai is the one who is part of this whole scam of faking as Cheuk Yat Ming. Basically, Yat Ming’s attendance showed that he no longer felt guilty and that in way, nothing can stop him from his scheme. His ability to say such a sentimental speech without a hint of guilt, makes him seem all the more scary.

Note: Angie’s speech was horrible. She didn’t even mention anything about her father. She thanked Marcus for being by her side! Geez… how can you still think about romance when your father who has supported and loved you all the way has just passed away??

Undeniable Love

While Mu Ma is still trying to change Connie’s mind, Rene herself is also disturbed by her brother’s affair. As we’ve known from the very first episode Rene was extremely upset when she found out her father had cheated on her mother. Funny, how like father, like son, Marcus repeats the same thing, except the biggest difference is that Sung Hei didn’t want to break apart his family and didn’t let it happen. Marcus allowed it to happen and even initiated the divorce. It is no wonder why Rene and Mu Ma are so upset. Yat Ming suggests that Cosmo bank should go on a business trip to Sabah and Rene, Yan (Sharon Chan) and Dai Jung Koon (Benz Hui) were invited.

After the business function at the mall though, Yat Ming ditches Yan and her father. Yat Ming begins dancing with Rene and they have a lot of fun. They are so cute and sweet, but I can’t help but feel less “aww” about it. Normally, I would be with glee, but now I just feel like they are hurting each other since they are technically “siblings.” Yat Ming and Rene look at each other and little sparks fly. Yat Ming’s lips brushes against Rene’s and then they just look at each other…

Yat Ming is tormenting Rene, make her go insane thinking that she’s in love with her brother! What Sa Bo Jai said is true, Yat Ming gave up love to have money. He can’t be so selfish and want everything. But Yat Ming believes he should get everything. He wants it all. He wants the world, he wants power, he wants money and he wants Rene. Not only was Yat Ming hurting Rene, he was hurting Sa Bo Jai and Yan! His little actions drive me nuts!! Haha. The wedding proposal was a very sweet moment though, props to Gallen and Anita for enacting the scene so well!! While, I am sure the feelings are true and such but I can’t accept the fact that Yat Ming and Rene can go together when Yat Ming is scheming against the Cheuks. It just bothers me and I hate how he’s playing with Rene’s mind and feelings. I just know this isn’t going to end well…argh!!!! One good thing though, is that Yat Ming realizes that Sa Bo Jai actually likes Yan. Yat Ming himself also wants to break up with her and I felt so so bad for Yan. I found the moments of Yan and Sa Bo Jai so cute, so I’m hoping they will get together soon. At least one pairing will go the right way? Haha.

Blacklisted

Marcus and Angie return from vacation together and these two are obviously blacklisted from the Cheuk family. I do pity this pair though yet I don’t fully accept or like them. I pity Marcus because he gave up two of his two most important things in his life: family and career. His mother is disappointed in him and no longer wants to see him. His daughter caught him kissing and hugging Angie, causing her to be traumatized. His career as the CEO is over and he’s doing small things such as changing coffee beans and light bulbs. It’s kind of sad, but he chose this. He left his family during an opportunity to talk with them because he didn’t want to face them any longer and went to eat dinner with Angie who was outside the house. Angie is hated by her “second mother” that has loved her and provided for her since she was a little girl. She’s still mourning her father’s death. Despite these troubles, both have decided that they would be happy as long as they have each other. Angie returns to work…omg..I just remembered she is a lawyer. Wow, there was no point in giving her a position as a lawyer if Kenix isn’t going to be given that much court dealings. And Marcus says Angie is career oriented and always wanted to be a full corporate lawyer? Geez….how blind love is.

Angie sees Rene on the streets but Rene turns around to walk the other way. Angie tracks her down though and asks to talk to Rene. Angie wants Rene’s forgiveness and wants her wishes but Rene refuses. Angie claims that Rene wouldn’t understand because she’s never loved before (wow…and she says she’s Rene’s friend? That’s kind of mean to say -_-;;; ). Rene of course rebutted that statement…

Rene: How would you know?! (calms down) True, secretly being in love with someone is difficult but it doesn’t negate what you’ve done wrong.
Angie: But love should only be between two people’s business and I really don’t think there should be a right or wrong.

Rene: (in disbelief) Two people’s business? Connie and the children are in so much pain and difficulties. Big brother and mom are in dispute…even me, because of you two, I for no reason was scolded by mom. Is your love relationship still still two people’s business?
(Angie suddenly realizes)

Big brother chose you, I can’t stop it but what I mind the most is that mom kicked big brother out of the Cheuk family. He doesn’t even have his position as CEO. He’s got nothing better to do than to help Dai Jung Koon change light bulbs. Do you know how much that hurts my heart? Career to brother is also important! Maybe in front of you, he acts like he is happy but he really isn’t!

I was so annoyed that Angie thought love is only two people’s business and no one else. But in reality, the relationship does affect other people and the people you affect makes it their business two. It’s definitely not just about two people and the fact that she thought of it that way…I mean…aren’t you a lawyer? Haha… but in general I’m really glad Rene pointed that out. I love this perspective from Rene because that beginning like I type up also talks about her and Yat Ming. They may love each other but Rene knows that just because she loves him deep inside, it doesn’t mean she’s going to be with him because Yat Ming is her second brother even if just same father. And like the script is all about like mother like daughter as well. Rene has a really strong relationship with Connie and her nieces and nephews. She cant just forgive and accept Angie. I mean I really loved the sister in law relationship as well, and I mean now Rene lost her sister in law, her nephews, her brother who is kicked out and a depressed mother.

While Angie now realizes she really needs to do something, but it just seems like the actions aren’t enough anymore for Mu Ma. I don’t blame Mu Ma and I also pity Angie because being a third wheel isn’t easy either. I’m beginning to see in Mu Ma’s expressions and eyes though that she slightly felt guilty for playing a trick on Angie. Of course, that’s washed away when news spread out from an insider that Angie had actually fell down the stairs to be closer to Marcus. Mu Ma was furious with Angie for tricking her and she had treated her so well. Angie realizes what she’s done is all over the news and decides to go and explain to Mu Ma. When Angie and Marcus arrives at the Cheuk mansion though, paparazzi is hounding Mu Ma and the grandchildren. Wanting to protect the children, Mu Ma gets out of the car since that driver is TOTALLY USELESS!!! Mu Ma gets hit with a microphone and her anger builds up as the paparazzi are scaring the little kids. The paparazzi hound her with the same question , “You say this women [Angie] is not your daughter in law, then what do you treat her as?”

Mu Ma blurts out, “!!!!!!!”

Angie is shocked and hurt by the comment. Marcus is in an awkward position, unsure of what to do so he drives off. The paparazzi follows them. Mu Ma then realizes they were there and you can see that there is a slight guilt in her. To be honest, I don’t think she meant to use such a harsh term but she’s obviously really upset to find out Angie had schemed her way in previously and that now due to the affair, she and the rest of the family were being disturbed by the press.

The question is: Should Mu Ma forgive Angie and accept her?? In other words TEAM CONNIE OR TEAM ANGIE??? (TEAM MARCUS IS OUT OF THE QUESTION)

Once again, I love everyone's acting in such an emotional state. While I am annoyed by some of the characters, I don't hate the actual actor or actress. I know they are just acting (sadly some people don't?)

In case any of you don't already know, TVB veteran Chan Hung Lit passed away on November 24th at the age of 65 due to a heart stroke.

TVB actor Chan Hun Lit, who had been acting as the Corporation CEO in "Off Pedder", lose consciousness at around 4PM due to a heart attack, he got transported by ambulance to Tseung Kwan O hospital's emergencies.

It is reported that while he was filming, popular actor Chan Hung Lit's heart started to hurt and he was sent to the hospital, however, after the doctors tried to reanimate him for 2 hours, they had to declare his death at 19h11. TVB executive Virginia Lok announced the news of his death to the public from the hospital.

It is reported that his widow is flying right now from Taiwan to organise his funeral.

Chan Hung Lit (1943-2009), original surname Chow, was born in Shanghai, he was a very famous vilain in the 60's and 70's chinese movies, being also one of the few actors whose fame skyrocketted while acting as vilains. He had once built his own Film company, directing movies, now, a TVB actor.

Coming from a wealthy family, the 11 siblings had 11 servants to take care of them; his house being the famous big residence near the Huashan Hospital in Shanghai. After the hostilities began in 1949, he followed his mother to Hong Kong, it is when he changed his surname to Chan like his mother. In 1962, he joined the Shaw company's "South Country training classes", after he graduated, he officialy signed as a Shaw's actor.

In 1974, he married famous actress Angela, Pan Yin-Tze, however, they divorced in 1977.
His current wife, Tsui Sai Wing gave birth to a daughter, Chan Bun Hung after two years of marriage.
In 1974, he directed his first movie 《冲天炮》, and 《狼吻》which he also directed received the Best Cinematography award at the Asain Film festival.

In January of 1988, after acting in the serial TV drama《皇帝与公主》, he focused on trading and didn't appear again in the showbusiness until his return in 1995, joining TVB, then leaving again in 1996, only to return in 2003.

He had acted in TV serials such as : "The Gem of Life", "Phoenix Rising", Heart of Greed, CIB Files..

While I haven't seen any of his earlier movies but I have seen him in the TVB series like War and Beauty, Heart of Greed, Off Pedder, Best Selling Secrets and the Gem of Life. I'm extremely shocked by this news, because as many said, it was so sudden! He was so energetic at the anniversary gala, singing and dancing. He seems like a really nice man based on interviews, very cute veteran.

I'm not sure what to say, it was all so sudden. It really tells us to treasure the people around us. I have to say the year 2009 has had quiet a lot of unhappy events as well. I hope everyone takes good care of themselves! Don't overwork yourself and have more time to enjoy life.

Born Rich Episode 21 - 24 Review

Originally I wanted to review for this week, but so much has happened...I just cant summarize it. So I will just review the episode i last saw which had me GRIPPING on my chair.

Nothing Left to Hold Onto

Connie (Jamie Chik) and Marcus (Ray Lui) have undergone many problems since Marcus had been kidnapped. As a result, he turned to Angie (Kenix Kwok) for support and their love becomes undeniable. The affair begins and honestly...I can't believe these two adults. While it was undeniable that their support that they received from each other was touching, but the two side - ness of Marcus disgusted me. On one side he's saying that he wants to reconcile with Connie and the other moment he goes and calls Angie out for dates.

As Chinese saying goes "Paper Can Not Cover Fire." It just so happens YatMing (Gallen Lo) happens to catch the two and he slowly schemes his way into convincing Connie to catch them on the affair. None other than Valentines Day to do this.

Marcus wanted to fulfill Angie's wish for being able to date in public. Like it is sweet that a man does that, but you have a wife!!! And to do this on Valentines Day????!! So Marcus claims that he's going on a business trip to Sabah which was discovered by YatMing. YatMing convinces Connie to surprise him and go to Sabah to celebrate Valentines Day with him. The most heart breaking though was that Connie who was really hoping to mend the relationship with Marcus was really looking forward to surprising him. Only to find him kissing passionately with Angie.

I think Jamie Chik did a wonderful job in this episode, the pain, the anger, the shock. It was well performed!

Connie lied that she couldn't get into Sabah to the rest of the family. It was so sad. Then her children discovered the pearl necklace Marcus had gave her as a Valentines Day's present. But it lost all symbolism ..the unity and the love between then was not everlasting. Hence the necklace shattered and all Connie could do was hold her children and cry.

Due to a "incident" Rene (Anita Yuen) found out that Marcus was calling Angie a lot. She decides to follow Marcus who indeed was out on a date with Angie. Angered, Rene took her cellphone out to capture the incident.

Rene confronts both parties and tells them to stop. Stop before they ruin the Cheuk Family. Stop before they ruin the Cheuk Reputation. Stop because Angie and Rene were once friends, and if this continues she's afraid their friendship is forced to end. Stop before Connie finds out.

Eventually Mu Ma (Nancy Sit) and Chuk (Lai Siu Ming) is told of the situation. Mu Ma pressures Marcus to mend the marriage and to not follow his father's footsteps. Stop before Connie finds out. Mu Ma tells him he is to take vacation to fix the problem. If not, Mu Ma and Chuk Sir will strip his title away. And just like Yat Ming had planned, Cosmo Bank operations will be handed to his control if Marcus doesn't fix the problem

The dramatic irony is that Connie does know and she's waiting for Marcus to tell her the truth. Angie doesn't want to ruin the Marcus' family and can no longer handle the stress of being the vixen. Marcus promises her that he would make a decision that would treat Angie fairly. WHAT ABOUT CONNIE?!!!

How disappointed Connie was that when Marcus went home, he was not there to confront his wrongdoings. But to claim for a DIVORCE. what the hell??!!! Sadly, Connie herself was intending on a divorce too and the scene was soo sad!!!! Connie already signed the papers herself all that was needed to complete the divorce was Marcus' signature. The emotions within that room seem so tense and lost of all hope. Connie was fed up, she lost all hopes. Marcus believes he's too deeply in love with Angie and Angie is the one he owes his love to. Marcus is handed the divorce papers and he gets ready to sign it....

Mu Ma storms into the room with Rene and Yatming. All three of them have obviously been listening in. Mu Ma takes the divorce papers away and claims that she wouldn't allow the divorce. She yells at Marcus and promises Connie she would fix everything. This scene was just as pitiful to watch because Mu Ma herself doesn't really know what to do. She just doesn't want them to divorce and her plan was to lock them in their room and force them to talk it out. She claims she wants them to be back together again the next day for breakfast. It's so sad though, because Mu Ma is promising she will defend Connie but she herself knows she doesn't know what to do.

In other words, the entire family will be under this "false hope" which is what they all have to hold onto at the moment....

SURPRISING EPISODE 25...

Just as this episode is all about Mu Ma supporting Connie...the commercial for episode 25 shows Connie wanting to file a divorce no matter what and that she wants the children to be with her. Mu Ma says something about Marcus and that Connie can not take the children away. If she does, she and Marcus will sue her! 0.0 What?!!!! That was not expected.....but I guess we'll have to see what's going on in episode 25!!

CAN'T WAIT!!! I LOVE BORN RICH!!!

P.S i love how this series doesn't always go as predicted. Like honestly I thought they would have done the recent TVB trend..of making the VIXEN evil and such. Making the mother be the angel who makes everything better. Having Marcus & Angie break apart instead. But instead, Angie I wouldn't say is evil. She just takes relationships too seriously. Mu Ma is definitely a fresh air in terms of motherly characters. Not the usual "SUDDENLY, MOM WILL SAVE THE DAY." And definitely unexpected that Marcus doesn't go home to repent and apologize to Connie. But to FILE A DIVORCE!! "Marcus, you're the one who is wrong!" as Mu Ma says. I thought it would just be Connie's wishes only, but Marcus wants it too?!!

I know, haven't even finished this weeks episodes and already going on to next weeks, but I couldn't resist. And my reaction?

OMFG Marcus (Ray Lui)! What are you thinking??? ARGH!!! Already he is having the affair again with Angie (Kenix Kwok), but to bring it home?!!! What is wrong with him?? And Angie!! Why are you downgrading yourself so much? You are a beautiful women with a successful career as a lawyer. You have so many pursuers, why let yourself be a third wheel?? WHY break apart a beautiful family?!!! Both of you are adults, how could you do this and to let a little girl see?? DISGUSTING!!! ARGH!!!

Go Miu Ma (Nancy Sit)! You tell him and her off!

And how dare Marcus make such a request from Connie (Jamie Chik)?? Make her stay in pain to see you have an affair? Connie has time and time been very considerate of you, yet behind her back you continue to do things that are SOOO wrong. Connie has thought it through though, we know she's filing a divorce now. SIGH....

TVB 42nd Anniversary Award Choices

Note these are my choices, not my predictions for who is going to win. My predictions would be a seperate post.

2009 Best Actor

Bowie Lam - I think he did a terrific job playing this semivillain in the Gem of Life. Despite that fact that I did not completely watch the Gem of Life, but every time I saw him on screen I was captivated by his performance. It's different from the usual roles I've seen him in...which were really boring to me. This time his role was refreshing and this smirky self-conceited role was delivered really well.

Wayne Lai - It's really nice to see Wayne Lai in a leading role ( I didn't like Pages of Treasures) and his performance as Chai Gao was great! Chai Gao was a growing character who started off as a salvage who then became an obedient servant. Then he was this annoying man who was oblivious to what was really going on and then he grew up to understand the meaning of patience. He then became a man who was vengeful and then a man of admiration. Lastly he was a man of loyalty and then a man of illness. There was so many parts to this character and Wayne Lai delivered every aspect of this character with excellence.

Dayo Wong - It's really nice to see Dayo back! He's a comedian yet he doesn't overdo it. He can pull off a straight face while saying something unbelieveable! Of course, that's not the only reason why he's my pick. This character has to show frustration, guilt, annoyance and pain but at the same time not take away the mood of the series. Also, comedy is not easy to pull off. You've got to have good timing, good delivering of speech yet also be really serious about what you are saying. It's definetely not easy.

Gallen Lo - I welcome Gallen Lo back with Born Rich! haha. I didn't really watch When A Dog Loves a Cat...so I'm treating this grand production as his real comeback series. In my mind, Gallen was always Big Brother who would be there to save the family and lead the household. Little did I know that the moment Gallen plays an evil role, I can actually dislike the character. At first the character isn't evil, he's more silly and values his relationship with his brother. He then undergoes heart break, and the emotions of seeing the loved one with someone else or calling him "2nd brother" is just pitiful itself. He seems really genuine with the things he says or does for the family, yet the moment he turns away he's got an evil smirk or evil look in his eyes. It gives me the shivers. At the same time, you can't help but pity him due to his undeniable love for Rene. Gallen has to go back and forth between all sorts of emotions as the swindler -- he's simply marvelous!

2009 Best Actress

Ada Choi - She wowed me with her performance as Jessica in The Gem of Life! This manipulating but pitiful character was well enacted by Ada. I didn't watch enough of Gem of Life but everytime I saw Ada I was also captured to watch. Ada acted really well as this character who on the outside was vicious, ambitious, cruel and independent but on the inside was scared and lonely.

Sheren Tang - As usual, Sheren does a wonderful performance. Is this her best? I personally liked her as Yu Fei in War and Beauty and Hilda in La Femme Desperado. The reason being that there were more layers to these characters in comparison to Hong bo Kei. To me this Fourth Wife was just the good and smart person from beginning to end. Meanwhile Yu Fei and Hilda, they weren't people you could easy grasp onto to understand. There were more different emotions, hidden expressions and such that was required from Sheren. I highly supported Sheren back in 2004 and 2006. In 2009, I also support her because I think she deserves to get a Best Actress Award.

Anita Yuen - She is truly a Movie Queen, and to win it twice! Haha...does she really need a Best TV Actress? Not really. But either way I think she is worthy of it since she's really into the role. Whether it be crying, yelling or being the princess of the family, she just performs it well! Like many have said, Anita Yuen is a natural! As in she is talented in acting ..born to act!

Jamie Chik - After leaving entertainment industry for over 20 years (correct me if I'm wrong) she's pretty good! I think a lot of her acting comes from her eyes as the character is suppose to be very calm and collected. It's as if her eyes are speaking to us (that sounds weird...but just watch Born Rich and you'll know what I mean).

Kenix Kwok - I was neutral to begin with towards Kenix since I've always been a bigger fan of the other 90s fa dans. And in Born Rich, her role as Angie is very different from the past roles I saw her in. The madness and the catty glares...all were done so realistic. I actually treated Angie to be Kenix. I wonder if there is more of this side of Angie to come?

Yan Seung (Teresa Mo)- I love Seung Seung, she's hilarious in her ditsy way yet when she's passionate about something she really stays strong on it. She supports her subordinates all the way, even if they do something wrong. I love Yan Seung's chemistry with Yu Ga Sing...which are credited to Teresa and Wayne themselves for acting so well.

Lam Miu Miu (Charmaine Sheh) - It's hard to not like her, she's so cute!!! At times it hards to be angry with her for too long because she compensates it with her sudden actions. The character is so sweet and Charmaine made the character all the more likeable! Whether it be the facial expressions or the way she walks [the funny housewife stride], Miu Miu is a must like! I also really like Lam Miu Miu and Mat Tai Song's chemistry. The series developed their relationship really well!!

P.S if there was a Best Chemstry Award, I would definetely vote for Yan Seung & Yu Ka Sing and Lam Miu Miu & Mat Tai Song!!

I'm not going to talk about Hong Bo Kei, Connie (!!!) or Rene since I've either already mentioned it or my posts recently related to Born Rich has covered it.

2009 Most Improved Actor

To be honest...I don't really have a choice for this award. But I guess I would support Raymond Wong or Ngo Ka Nin.

I can't believe they put Chow Ka Yi under most improved. Shouldn't she be under Best Supporting Actress instead? That's so weird. Like Most improved Actor, I don't really have a choice. But I do like Koni Lui and Queenie Chu! I surprisingly realized I haven't really completed a Sharon Chan series...o.0. But I think she's cute as ah Yan in Born Rich.

2009 Best Drama

My picks...Rosy Business, Born Rich and You're Hired. My three favourite for the year 2009. And they are the only three i actually finished (or intend to in Born Rich's case.)

Rosy Business despite copying mainland series....the acting in this drama was terrific in all. It's been awhile since we've had one of these dramas where it wasn't just about family feud. There was a lot of educational aspects in it and there were quite a few twists. Although some parts it was predictable.

You're Hired ...one again, a drama we haven't had in a long time, especially a comedy one. The comedies recently have been really stupid...in the sense that it was nonsense. I was entertained the entire time I watched it and I loved the chemistry.

Born Rich ...also haven't had one of these 90s feeling dramas in a long time with such a solid cast. It's not about family feud but the changes in human nature when they are pushed towards the darkness. It's about how a family begins to fall apart and how new relationships are built. It's about proving oneself to be better than other people think. And then the vengeance that takes place. That and I really like the clear differences in characters. It's not good vs bad straight off. All the characters are people you'd find in normal people....so there are mixes of good and bad traits in all the characters.

As most of you may be wondering why I didn't choose any Beyond the Realm of Conscience members. Haha the reason being is that I haven't seen it yet.

Episode 16-18 Review

SPOILERS ALERT!!

Oh My gosh, so much has climaxed within these three chapters!! We see a really nasty side of Yat Ming!! Sorry for the lack of graphics but I dont have it on this computer and it's late..lols but i'm so excited lols. I will add more perhaps tomorrow.

The Cheuk Family is in A Chaos

The male head of the household --- Yat Yuen/ Marcus (Ray Lui) flies away on a business trip to try and avoid the conflict of two women at home. Chuk Sir (Lau Siu Ming) disgusts me in his evil schemes and how blind he is towards what's wrong. How can he tell his daughter to break apart a family? How can he support her in getting stealing a man that already has a wife and children??!! What on earth is wrong with him?!! As a result, Angie (Kenix Kwok) continued fighting for Marcus as she is highly welcomed by the Cheuk Family. After a test, it was proven that Marcus still had feelings for Angie and not wanting to deal with the tension of having both women at home, he leaves for a business trip, only to find there to be a terrorist attack at the hotel he is living in. The entire family is in distraught, everyone is scared after watching the shootings in the news. There has been no signs of whether or not Marcus had escaped.

Cosmo bank needs a CEO to run the company and there are still many business dealings that has to be dealt with. Paparazzi are hounding the family on what they are going to do without someone watching over the bank.

Connie (Jamie Chik) and Angie fly over to try and save Marcus. They arrive at the hospital to uncover every dead body to determine if it was Marcus. Luckily they found out from one of the injured ushers that Marcus had escaped with a group of people they paid to get him back to Hong Kong. Only to find out that Marcus had been kidnapped by the same people because they recognized he was the bank CEO. They now wanted a large ransom or else they would kill Marcus.

While Connie did manage to get the sum of money but on the way, she and Angie gets into an accident. The car and the money rolls down the hill!!!!

Yat Sum (Anita Yuen) who was on the phone with them became worried and informed Yat Ming (Gallen Lo) to do something. Since the news that Marcus was kidnapped, Yat Ming was not worrying about his "brother" but taking advantage of this to take over Cosmo Bank!!! Right after the phone call, he originally was to attend a meeting to get the shareholder's votes. Instead he decides to tell everyone that Marcus was dead because Connie was unable to deliver the ransom on time. This is even told to Mu Jie (Nancy Sit) who coincidentally arrived for the meeting to support Yat Ming. Mu Jie unable to take the shock and unwilling to accept her precious son was dead, faints leaving her with only half a life to live on. Within a few days she has been shocked with horrible news and her blood pressure increased dramatically causing her to be rushed to the hospital.

Yat Sum was angered by Yat Ming's actions and she questioned what Yat Ming said. She wasn't willing to accept the death of Marcus and now her mother's life was on the line too. Chuk Sir takes Yat Ming aside to talk, telling him that he shouldn't have told the news to Mu Jie. Yat Ming very cleverly states that he is too stressed with everything and didn't want his "mother" to find it out any other way. Chuk Sir is eventually convinced that Yat Ming's actions were right and even agreed to inform his assistant who attending the business trip with Marcus to make the same claim - Marcus was dead.

Little did Yat Ming know though that Sa Bo Jai (Kenneth Ma) was listening. Kenneth Ma is soo cute!!! I love him and this role!! Anyways, Sa Bo Jai confronts Yat Ming for what he's done. Questioning how he could treat the Cheuks this way. Questioning how he had the heart to take away Mu Jie's son when she had already lost her husband. Questioning whether he is Cheuk Yat Ming or Sa Fu Loi, because the brother he once knew was a swindler but would not try to harm people the way he was now.

The Embarrassing Image

Connie was able to gain consciousness but Angie had fainted. Connie tried to negotiate with the kidnappers and explained that she can help them find the money at the bottom of the mountains. Connie is shown Marcus being beaten up. The scene was humiliating because Marcus had lost his manliness. The poor rich guy was not use to any sort of beatings and he was crying for mercy. He was so scared, he was peeing his pants and it was such a shameful scene and his own wife had to watch it all!!! How awkward it is but Connie didn't care. She just wanted her husband back. Jamie Chik has acted really well in these scenes to find her husband. The crying and trying to stay strong. I love Jamie Chik & Connie!! Actually, everyone has acted really well within these episodes. The change in everyone's characters, the fear and disbelief. Ray Lui has such a manly image before but he's so convincing as this now tamed kitten that's crying for mercy. I was really into the series with their acting!!

Will she be able to retrieve the money? Will Connie be able to save her husband??? What more problems does Yat Ming cause for the Cheuk Family??

I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll leave it at that. ARGH!!!! Yat Ming makes me soooo angry!!!

Born Rich Episode 06 -15

I sincerely apologize for the late post. Originally I was suppose to post weekly but it’s been really hard for me since I feel like I’m always running out of time to do my work and studying. Haha, but nonetheless I am still watching one episode everyday because I simply love Born Rich. I don’t want to over spoil, but I have a feeling I would. There’s too much I have to comment on. Therefore: SPOILERS ALERT!!

A Warm Mother - Daughter Relationship

Probably the warmest episode is episode 06 of this series up to date. Or maybe it’s because it’s the only episode (other than episode 07) where Mu Jie (Nancy Sit) isn’t scolding at Connie (Jamie Chik) or Marcus (Ray Lui). Funny, Yat Sum never seems to get yelled at, and this episode shows why. I finally saw the “substitute” Nancy Sit and well you don’t really notice the real one isn’t there. I didn’t notice at first until I saw how the scenes were shot kind of weird. I’m envious of this substitute, she got a piggy back with Gallen Lo!! And she was near so many TVB stars!!

Anyways, Yat Ming (Gallen Lo) and Sa Bo Jai (Kenneth Ma) originally intended on tricking Mu Jie in some way, but it was as if fate allowed them to meet a villager who had buried Sung Hei’s body. It was heaven’s decision to make it all the more easier for Yat Ming to gain Mu Jie’s trust as she is grateful for his help. Yat Ming is a pretty good story teller, making things seem as pitiful as possible yet also genuinely true. Mu Jie was also easy to lure because her biggest weakness is her husband, Sung Hei. She hates him for having the affair but I think 40 years of what seemed like a happy marriage made her willing to accept his mistake. Since the series is a bit fast paced, and especially since one episode can have many days within, I guess I can accept that she liked him so quickly. That and since Yat Ming is such a good swindler with his “good boy” actions.

My favourite part of this episode though would most likely be seeing how Yat Sum was taking it. Anita Yuen is such a good actress; she really portrays the emotions quiet well. Yat Sum is like her mother --Mu Jie, both very direct people who say very critical or mean things but are generally nice people. Yat Sum clearly is upset that the father who she thought was one of the ideal men in the world was also a liar too. She’s also a family person and since she found out about the affair, she’s been standing by her mother’s side. It’s no wonder she was disturbed by her mother’s change in behavior. Of course, Mu Jie then confronts her daughter about how she’s felt since Sung Hei went missing and how she’s realized her behavior had influenced Yat Sum to dislike this “second brother.” Most importantly, I love the line,
“Now your father has gained a son, but I don’t want him to lose a daughter.”

Star Crossed Lovers? Yat Ming and Yat Sum

Paired with the two-time movie queen, Anita Yuen, Gallen Lo is definitely up to par in terms of acting ---then again he is three time TVB Best Actor. There is so much unspoken emotions that they both deliver so well, that it makes everything all the more heart gripping. When Yat Sum found out that this swindler she’s fallen in love with was actually her second brother, Yat Ming it was intense. Through the actor/actresses’ acting, you can really read the “what the hell is going on” emotions in the characters. When Yat Sum revealed that Yat Ming was a swindler who kidnapped her, Yat Ming was still able to come up with a story to cover up for his actions. Yat Ming decided to pick money over love.

It was even sadder when Yat Sum finally acknowledged him as her second brother. The dialogues for that scene didn’t reveal anything but you can see through their expressions that there is that feeling that they are hiding their love for each other. It’s so sad because this scene symbolized that Yat Sum and Yat Ming can’t be together and they have to admit it. The music also came in really well during this part because it actually felt like a big decision has been made but there is sadness to it. They are trying really hard to accept the fact that they are siblings but that unrequited love is so evident! I love Anita Yuen & Gallen Lo!!!! Throughout these two weeks episodes, Yat Sum has accepted Topman (Joe Ma). While I find it cute and funny between Yat Sum and Topman but you can really tell Yat Sum still hasn’t gotten over Yat Ming. Whenever they see each other, there is this pain in their eyes and it’s so sad!!! But Yat Ming has made the decision to choose money and he’s regretting it.

The Swindler: Yat Ming

Yat Ming, with the help of Mu Jie, has finally gotten a position at Cosmo Bank. He’s planning a way to make money for himself through the projects he finds out at the bank. I found it so frustrating because time and time again, he’s doing something wrong that is affecting the bank’s reputation and his brother’s reputation. Yat Ming is trying to do things too quickly without knowing the policies and the procedures. It was thanks to him that Marcus couldn’t get the award his father had once gotten. It was so depressing to see Marcus played by Ray Lui look back out at the empty hall where he should have gotten his award it. The sadness can be seen in the eyes because he really has been working hard to be as successful as his father. The opportunity came in which he would win an award the proved that, but thanks to Yat Ming, he lost it. But the main reason he was upset was the fact that Yat Ming wouldn’t tell him the truth. Marcus has always been very patient with Yat Ming’s mistakes because he realizes that Yat Ming may not have been properly brought up due to the poor conditions he grew up in. Marcus feels obliged to provide the family support Yat Ming should have gotten over the past 30 years and he knows that he knows too little about this “little brother.” And it was due to Marcus putting up with Yat Ming’s mistakes that eventually led to his own depressed state.

At the same time, you can’t help but feel bad for Yat Ming when he does do something right. He did feel guilty for what he does and he puts lots of efforts into his work. When he does do something good, the spotlight is instead given to his Marcus. It’s as if no matter what he does, he can’t compare to the abilities of Marcus. Yat Ming being the optimist took if well and was able to brush it off with the help of Yan. But I predict that these feelings will continue to build up. He will eventually be pushed into thinking that Marcus thinks lowly of him. I look forward to the development in Yat Ming’s character and I of course look forward to more Gallen!

A Time Bomb Love Triangle

Since Marcus doesn’t want to burden his family with his woes, he tried to suppress all his feelings. At this point in time, Angie (Kenix Kwok) decides to comfort him and eventually old sparks begin to fly between them. This is when the very witty and careful dialogues come into play between Connie (Jamie Chik) and Angie. Angie is set on the fact that Marcus is still in love with her but Connie was in the way. Angie makes use of an incident to get closer to the Cheuk Family. Angie is loved by Mu Jie as Angie is indeed a very sweet lady and they are very close in friendship. Connie who is Mu Jie’s daughter in-law doesn’t seem to get along with Mu Jie as much. As a result, Angie gains the love of Mu Jie who always compares Connie to Angie. It’s rather frustrating to see the way Mu Jie seems to scold Connie yet at the same time, she has some classic dialogues. The comments towards Connie are very mean and b*tchy yet nonetheless it’s hilarious to an outsider. Thus, I actually feel really bad for Connie. She seems to have lost her balance in the family as she is threatened by Angie’s presence in the house.

Angie is definitely a refreshing role for me to see Kenix in. The character is so complex and so…crazy. It’s creepy how love can make someone lose their judgment and become so scheming. Kenix’s eyes and her smirks just send chills to my spine. I actually think Angie’s character is evil in a way, even if she’s doing it out of love and she’s mentally disturbed. Kenix has so far done a fantastic job playing this role. While I like Kenix, she really has made me hate Angie who doesn’t seem to be able to let go of the past. The way she taunts Connie and schemes against the family just makes me hate Angie. I have never really imagined Kenix as a vixen nor did I ever imagine her to play such a complex role that is disrupted by love. Bravo to Kenix! Angie is really willing to do anything to be with Marcus, even if it means putting her own life on the line. I hope I don’t hate Angie all the way, but at the moment I really do, especially since I’m on “TEAM: CONNIE.”

The Pitiful Daughter In-Law

I’ve liked Connie since the time I saw how she took the news of the husband she was about to marry to have had an affair. Connie was so calm and smart in the way she handled things. I love how she tries to solve the problems of the family and while she does have her own views, she nonetheless supports Marcus no matter what. Jamie Chik has made me like Connie all the more. I guess it is that bold voice and Jamie is really pretty for her age as well. I think she kept really well despite leaving the entertainment industry long ago. She’s sometimes like a really pretty doll and she looks so peaceful. Side note: they finally gave Jamie some better clothes to wear!!! Thank you!! The previous vest looks were kind of “ew” for a wealthy lady. Especially since her side of the family is even richer than the Cheuks! Jamie’s acting is also not bad since she hasn’t acted in a very long time (Ray has been filming mainland dramas even though we haven’t seem him in awhile). I feel so bad for the way Connie is treated in this household and sometimes I think she is stupid in some of the things she does. Like when she spoiled her mother in-laws’s plans she knew what she was going to get. If she simply agreed and done what Mu jeh wanted, she wouldn’t have caused herself all this trouble. But it really shows that Connie will stick to her beliefs and wouldn’t change it if she strongly believes in it. Since Angie’s entrance into the scene, Connie has begun to lose her calmness. She’s threatened by Angie who seems to not respect Connie at all. The dialogues between each other are so well written in the sense that they both have to keep this calmness to it but there has to be some sort of rebuttal within it. Connie has confronted her feelings to Marcus and as much as Marcus is trying, I know that next week he’s not going to keep his promise. ARGH!!!! Mu Jie is also making Connie’s life difficult because she constantly thinks that Connie feels she is better than her since she comes from a rich family. I also feel Connie’s pain whenever Mu Jie claim how much she likes Angie more. At the same time, Angie conceals her true self very well, the moment she is with other people, she acts differently. At the same time, I can see why Mu Jeh thinks the way she does.

To be honest, Connie should have expected this coming, since she was the one who started it by claiming that she can ask her family to buy shares from an executive member of Cosmo Bank. The way she said it showed that she is from a wealthy background herself. She is “Born Rich” while Mu Jie and Juk Sir built up their wealth. There’s obvious difference in status there too. I mean they lack the wealthy blood running in them or the etiquettes to be one. They say it takes 3 generations of wealth in ordered for a person to be considered to be a wealthy person. Mu Jeh seems more conscious of the fact that she has a low-class background as a singer and worries that Connie looks down on them. She’s conscious to the fact that her son might be looked down upon and since Connie made that comment in Episode 2, it is no wonder she has that argument.

I am awaiting the part when Mu Jeh goes to Connie’s side when Marcus actually develops the affair. It would be nice that Connie gets some strong support because at the moment, she really isn’t. She’s practically fighting this battle by herself in order to keep her family together. But to be fair to Angie as well, it’s really Marcus’ fault for having the affair ten years ago when he should have been filial to Connie if he really loved her. And he really shouldn’t be having feelings for two women at the same time.

Next Week:

The trailer for episode 16 reveals that Marcus eventually does have an affair with Angie. I have a feeling he was doing it mainly because he wanted to help her become emotionally stabilized but he eventually got too carried away. At the same time, Marcus is KIDNAPPED!!! The scene was so scary because everyone in this bank (in another country) was shot and then he was the only one left. It is said that this plot led to the change in Marcus’s behaviour and eventually the broken marriage. I’m so excited to see what happens even though I’ll be cursing while watching. BORN RICH!!!!

Episode 01 – 05 Born Rich Thoughts

Hmmm…TVB must have reverted back into a certain style. Many says its like the 80s – 90s style where its more about a build up of plot rather than some sort of dramatic storyline thing. Is it true? I have no idea since I watched the 80s/ 90s drama when I was a little girl…so I don’t quite remember. But I did notice that in recent years there really has been this dramatic drama sort of thing and scheming related stuff.

I was definitely surprised at how quick paced Born Rich is. I mean, a lot of stuff happens in an episode and unlike many series; they don’t linger too long on anything. So it’s not like focusing on one aspect for too long. Instead there are multiple views on stuff.

I think this weeks episodes were a built up to what’s going to happen. So of course, characters are still being introduced, but a little bit more about them throughout the episodes. So technically, it’s really hard to pinpoint what everyone’s personality is like at the moment (unless you are like me…and read TVB’s character biographies…HEHE). Every episode I always feel like my views or knowledge about them changes. They don’t seem to just pause on one characteristic, which is pretty nice. Also a lot of stuff, the series doesn’t suddenly decide explain things. You see scenes where you know it signifies something but they don’t go on to explain it really quickly. I also really like how from the beginning there is also a bit of foreshadowing to the idea of an affair. The parents had an affair break into the family and it looks like the oldest son, Ray Lui will be having one too...

The Characters That Jumped out to Me:

Gallen Lo

I just love Gallen! He's simply fantastic as this swindler. You can tell he is a nice guy and he’s in love with Anita Yuen. But he needs to make a living and he chose to be a swindler. But even as a swindler, he has some morals and doesn’t want to physically hurt anyone. I absolutely adore his relationship with Kenneth Ma. Haha…Dai Sa Bo and Sai Sa Bo! Lols! Kenneth is really cute too in this series...he really listens to his brother and is very kid like.
I look forward to Gallen becoming evil. At the moment, his character is bad...but not evil. But due to certain events Gallen WILL become evil and I look forward to it!

Jamie Chik

At first, I couldn't tell if Jamie was good or not. I was suspicious of her..since she seemed to always be against Nancy Sit...so I thought she might have something against her. That and the way how she mentioned that her family can buy off Lau Siu Ming's shares...I really thought she was a complete snog there... But like I mentioned before, you find out something new about the character as each episode goes on...and I must say I've come to really like Jamie's character. The character is a truly rich person...meaning her wealth has lasted for a few generations now... hence she is the most sophisticated and upper class of the bunch. She's very smart and thinks of things in different perspectives. I most admire her character was how she handled being told Ray Lui had cheated on her while she was in England. Her ability to remain calm and to even cover up for Ray Lui's mistake was just baffling. She just handled it very well...thus I kind of dont like the way Ray sometimes treat her. And based on episode 5, I think the one thing that breaks her knows her husband has an affair. She can with hold being yelled at by her mother in law and such and can still remain calm. But the moment she saw Angie…there is always this sense of insecurity. Nonetheless, Jamie really has this rich status to her…and I look forward to more of her. By the way, she has nice shiny black heels. But she’s got some funny looking wardrobe.

Nancy Sit

Nancy Sit is currently being bombarded with either lovers or haters. Either they like Nancy Sit and her character or they don't at all. Which I find sad...because poor lady just recovers from all illness and is being so heavily criticized. How I see it? I think a lot of people don't Understand the character she portrays nor do they understand the background. Nancy Sit’s character is a show girl…she wasn’t born rich nor was her husband. She’s the straightforward type that doesn’t feel the need to be overly etiquette. Hence the character is meant to be a drama queen, a performer type person. So I think thats the dramatic aspect. I believe the script meant for Nancy’s character to be the comedic aspect of the series…and not the serious type. To be honest, I think Nancy’s a good fit for the role….this role is a flashy dramatic mother who isn’t an angel in any way. She’s just a normal mother like normal citizens, who once they get to a certain age would just become a child again. I mean I’m pretty sure many Asians may have noticed the change in their parents. They become needy and want things there way. They act up and throw tantrums and lack common sense. I mean she is playing a 60 year old woman who lived her life in a false dream. She thought her husband was the greatest man on the world, only to find after 40 something years of marriage that he had cheated on her and bore him a son. Really…don’t you guys think you would have flipped yourself??! Hence the character is also a big baby which is pretty amusing to watch sometimes. The character has a bit of wit in her…and really knows how to use the fact that she is a woman to get things her way. The “turn around” on Lau Siu Ming’s character was hilarious! But to be fair, I do think there are some parts where she doesnt have to be so strongly in emotions for. Haha

Kenix Kwok

I miss seeing Kenix on screen! And wow, she's pretty! I think her character is the only one who has a good relationship with the older generation and the younger. Nancy Sit, Lau Siu Ming and Woo Fung's characters all adore her. She has pretty good chemistry with them all. I absolutely enjoyed her legal scenes, haha all very nicely delivered! I haven't seen any more of her...but I kind of fear of seeing the vixen Kenix. Haha..because as we all know, Kenix and Ray's love for each other resurfaces and Kenix's character takes relationships really seriously. I was watching the trailer for Kenix's character, Angie and Angie is really creepy when fighting for people she loves. *SHIVERS* I also must say, Kenix has a really nice wardrobe!! Hehe...

Anita Yuen

Anita truly expresses her two time Best Movie Actress titles in her acting. I really like Anita's character Especially her relationship with the two men. She’s lovey dovey towards Gallen but a bickering pair with Joe Ma. I can’t choose between the two relationships. I like both. Anita seems to have really good chemistry with all the cast. She’s friends with everyone practically and her relationship with Ray is funny too. She’s a mix of comedy and mix of seriousness. Nonetheless you can tell her fieriness is inherited from her mother (as she mentioned in the news ). She’s also quite smart in handling situations…I especially love it when she schemes against Joe Ma! Hilarious! I look forward to more Anita Yuen scenes. I wonder whether or not her character will change throughout the story?
Anita Yuen is really pretty!! ha ha..

anyways..thats my input for now.. i hope everyone would give this series a chance...

Sigh....one more week everybody!! One more week before TVB Lighting Ceremony, Born Rich and Beyond the Realm of Conscience comes out!!! So excited!!!

Would like to apologize for the lack of update...but since I ended my photoshop trial... its very difficult to make pictures out of the ordinary...and I'm the very decorative type...so i need pictures with my updates. I'm still working on trying to get a new free program trial...XP so if any recommendations..please tell me =] Also I guess each year school just becomes for time consuming. And well I have to put that first above all.. so hopefully some of these assignments will you know..suddenly disappear eventually..LOL

I'm looking forward to the full version of this song...cause the preview bit of it, sounds really nice. Plus, I really like Linda's new hair style..it seems more matured and suits her =] Also, her voice sounds soothing with the music...hehe I'd like to see full video too!! At the moment, I've only seen the fan made versions [like the clips are from Moonlight Resonance].

About both songs, both give me the impression that they're starting to flow away from the "theme song" like songs... they have this 'song-song' feel to it. That or it's the MV... it seems like more thought was put into shooting both MVs! Hehe...looking forward to the rest of the music videos they will be releasing!

Dining With the Netizens seeks to interview netizen's opinion on the spotlighted artist. Today is episode two of Tavia Yeung Spotlight: Dining With the Netizens. Tonight my guest is Flor.a, a recognizable fan of Tavia Yeung Fans Online World...as many others are [just in case that offended other fans].

Today, I have chosen to eat Korean food, as it she is a big fan of Korean celebrities. But before I present the food, let's welcome, Flor.a -->Co-Webmistress of Tavia Yeung Network

Lavendar_Bluez: Haha...In case anyone is wondering..no I did not edit anything out..it didn't seem offensive...but if anyone does think so, feel free to tell us...we'll cut that scene from our DVD/International release version. :D
Now let's present the side dishes/appetizers that are served before every Korean cuisine [at least the ones I've been to..]

My favourite are the kimchi [dish far left in the front] and the seasoned bean sprout. They're always the first to be eaten! I simply adore the spicy but a bit of sourness in kimchi...which is spicy cabbage that's been pickled in a variety of seasonings.

Lavendar_Bluez: So Flor.a, when did you start liking Tavia Yeung? I mean my memory is poor...I like making stuff up when I forget..Hehe...

Flor.a: For an exact date, I started liking her in 2005…around March I think. Haha, it was when Ron, Joe and Myolie visited my area when Triumph in the Skies was airing.

Lavendar_Bluez: Yes. I think you mentioned that to me...I think. Wow, so you've been a fan for 4 years then! What do you like about her?

Flor.a: Solely about her work, I like the fact that she’s not just another pretty face. It’s her ability to make it so far from being in the acting class, especially in her generation. Maybe I’m being ignorant but I don’t think any female artiste from this generation that came from acting classes has made it this far. I’m not saying that pageant winners suck because it’s not necessarily true ‘cause I love Fala and I think she’s doing great as an actress and I’m looking out for Koni. So basically, I admire Tavia for working her way up from the bottom and to be able to find acknowledgement. And then of course, there’s what I like about Tavia off-screen, how she just makes friends with everyone. There’s such a large age range in her friends because I know ever since Dicey Business she’s great friends with Jessica and then she’s friends with those that are younger than too. Hahaha, and also being able to have so many male friends in the entertainment industry as well.

Lavendar_Bluez: Hmmm...I think I might agree...but then again I only know Tavia Yeung is an acting graduate. And I think Tavia is playful too, she seems like the type who doesn't mind pranks and such. Our next dish, well order is...

One of my usual orders, as I just don't know what to pick half the time. Nonetheless, Kimchi Chigae is a delicious and flavourful stew made with kimchi, scallions, onions, diced tofu, and seafood! As we have to save room for the rest of the meal, Flor.a and I will be sharing this =]

So then, what is production do you think Tavia best performed in?

Flor.a:This question’s hard to answer! Umm, I think she performs well in all her series but I guess probably Moonlight Resonance. It’s the series where she outshined others despite only being in a supporting role. It’s also the series where I felt Tavia was actually recognized. I’m gonna have faith that this won’t be the production where she performs best in though, as she still has many productions ahead of her. I know that she’s going to gain more experience with each series and continue to improve. So I’m not going to say that any series is where she performed best in to limit her, but it’s just a valid excuse so I don’t have to answer the question directly…hahaha.

Lavendar_Bluez: T_T. Very clever. Well...recently many TVB actors have entered the singing industry and Tavia has commented that she would like to have a singing career. What are your thoughts?

Flor.a:
I hope she doesn’t do it. I’m a fan of her acting and of her and well, if she does venture into the singing industry I will wholeheartedly support her. But still, I hope she doesn’t. Hahaha, I think that if Tavia wants to sing she should stick to singing themesongs and sub songs. To be honest, the only TVB artiste [in this generation] that has found success in the singing industry is Raymond. But I mean if Tavia wants to and she gets the chance…why not? ‘Cause the HK music is kind of umm, messed up already. And by that, I don’t mean the TVB artistes have made it that way. In my opinion it was like that even before all the TVB ‘singers’ stepped into the picture. But the HK music industry now would explain why everyone’s going kpop. I’ll reiterate myself clearly about Tavia and a singing career though, no. She can take the opportunity where the actresses are juggling both singing and acting and improve tremendously in acting :P

Lavendar_Bluez: I quite agree. I actually feel a lot of the actors should stick to acting more than their singing. That way they can focus more and improve their acting before venturing into another segment. There's many who I really think are improving but now there time is divided. Similarly the reason why I had you share the chigae with me, was because we need to save space for...

The BBQ portion! Mmmm....the onion juice is seeping into the meat! How flavourful it will be!

So What do you enjoy most about being a Tavia fan?

Flor.a: Being a FungYi fan is the best part of being a Tavia fan. Is that a possible answer? I hope I don’t sound like a hermit but it’s cause of the online family that FungYi fans have gradually built. Being able to spazz about something Tavia (or FungYi, or whatever) related or to rant about something that pisses you off. But I don’t think I would’ve been able to…’enjoy’ any of this if I wasn’t a Tavia fan. Plus, a lot of the FungYi fans are Tavia > Raymond anyways so I’d say this is a good answer, haha.

Lavendar_Bluez: Awwws...well I'm sure the FungYi family feel the same too!Well then, I guess I know what to expect your answer to be, if I asked: If you could produce a series, what would Tavia's role be? Who would be her colleagues in the series? Feel free to describe as much as you want.

Oh, you really shouldn’t have given this question to me, I have a feeling I’ll type you an essay. I think it’s because I haven’t seen Tavia in any strong independent roles that I really want to see her in one. She doesn’t necessarily have to be a business woman or even anything of that nature. Someone that doesn’t really give a crap but has a sentimental side to her, I think that’d be cool. Yeah, it would…independent and cool but isn’t afraid to show her weak side either. I hope there’s a selfish side to it because I’ve grown to hate those perfect roles that TVB scripts, the selfishness would make the role more realistic. I know it’s hard enough to even get a FungYi series but I don’t care, haha if I’m producing the series it’s gonna be Raymond and Tavia. Hahaha, I’m getting so excited and I don’t think it’s good be day dreaming like this, but I’d really, really want Louis & Jessica and FungYi in one series. I’m aware that this is completely unrealistic because it’s hard enough to get FungYi, hard to get Louis to film for TVB, harder to make it LJ nowadays and near impossible to have both FungYi and LJ in a series together. I’m going to refrain myself from naming all the older generation fa dans like Kenix and Flora even though I’d like them in it too. And I’d want BerMo, Fala and Koni in it. And promote Oscar and Fred to larger roles and give those Mr HKs that’s been getting all these roles without being able to bring them to life a kick in the butt. Haha, I’m also aware that act doesn’t make a nice person. This will sound contradicting but I don’t like or want love triangles (because I have the typical love triangle in my head) but I kind of want infidelity and angst. Possibly watching them cry will make me cry. However, I’d prefer to bawl watching the pain etched into their eyes and face instead of crying along with them. I think it would be a good idea to stop here.

haha so I am watching You're Hired Episode 17 [watching it here and there] and within 4 minutes of watching the episode [including the theme song] the Silver Chamber of Sorrow's background music plays..HAHA..the really dramatic violin with some drum beats segment...yeah..it strangely is being used for You're Hired. It doesn't really fit ..because it's modern and well the moment..is dramatic..but not with the Background instrumental..haha.. It's about Suet Nei telling Dayo Wong that she regrets meeting him again [didnt want to spoil if you havent watched]

But hearing the background music makes me miss SCOS again haha...

1. As I've always enjoyed Ada's acting abilities, I was very intrigued with her "comeback" show - Dance of Passion. So I was visiting forums to obtain more information regarding the production. I stumbled upon Winglin's forum for TVB series. Then I saw an ad posted by MetalAZNWarrior about his satire on the "Lady in Red" album cover. Curious, I clicked and got my first peek at TVB Musings. I enjoyed the piece for its witty writing and was soon among his constant visitors.

2. His personality? That's quite a vague question. At the moment, I offer one word: honest. Feel free to ask more specifics. :P

Back then, TVB Musings was very new so little knew of it. He thus posted an announcement at Winglin to gain readers. It worked. :P

My favorite post of his on TVB Musings? Probably the first one I read - his satire on "Lady in Red" album cover. Though I suspect I'll love his last entry too. He has a way with intros and endings. :P

A fruit to describe him? I'd say an apple because it has enough familiarity so that everyone can regard it as a "safe choice". It's also very dependable.

What do I find most likable about him? Hmm..... Well, his wit was what had attracted me. His ability to identify his own flaws and make amends continues to be one of his strongest characteristics.

BTW, who else are you interviewing?

My favorite feature of his? Satires. My least favorite? The focuses on Linda Chung. Since I'm not a fan of hers, the reads become tedious.

And yes, he's definitely the family man type.

Making efforts to overcome your flaws do not necessarily mean you can succeed at it. :P Some things are just habit, almost "innate". What do I like least about him? Geez, the article is supposed to commemorate him, then why are we discussing his flaws? :P In any case... hmm... I'd say it's his lack of self-confidence when he tries new ventures.

And no, I'm not a VOH fan. Its humor is too nonsensical for me. Sorry, I know you love VOH. And yeah, isn't it ironic that his online world revolves around VOH and Linda but I find neither appealing? lol.

How did you come to know of MetalAZNWarrior? I mean i googled Virtues of Harmony..and his site was first on the list...and well i was amazed by the immense amount of knowledge... how bout you?

KTVB:

I gotta say I don't really remember how..I must have just googled some TVB series and got to TVB Musings lol I'd drop by now and then but didn't really follow his updates. ( The most entertaining bits were still his comics! )A little while after, I started my own TVB blog and.... that was about it! lol We didn't really talk and to be honest- I found him quite intimidating back then lol . The name says it all "MetalAznWarrior"..its so long,and well...Metally lol (he seemed a bit like a snob too *cough*cough* who was just way too proud of himself lol! Don't worry, I've told him about that already haha)

That all changed when I got to know him behind TVB Musings interface and through MSN. Something happened and we eventually got in contact with each other and we started talking. Before you know it; we became really good TVB buddies haha ...it was good to find a online TVB friend (sorta feels like making friends when you first get into the entertainment industry haha)
He's a nice guy afterall! (and *gasp* We're the same age XD I thought he was about 3 years older ^^;)

Lavendar_Bluez: another question.... K-TVB, TVB Musing and TVB Index are well established websites..highly viewed by me [im a little fan =] ]... and you three have established a top affiliate system...how did it come to be? i mean were all three of you good friends and decided to just do it? or is there some regulation that goes with it??

KTVB:Sounds like someone is curious :P
It came abouts from a causal chat during January 2008 when the idea came up. Firstly, we've been good friends for a while; we support each other and appreciate each others efforts that we put into our blogs and we started relatively around the same time (so we share that common 'generation' of blogs in 2006 when there weren't that many- perhaps the 2nd generation of TVB Blogs that arose?) At that time, our blogs were continously expanding; being large and well established and most importantly- they were actively updated. Our blogs also each offered something different and unique so they complement each other quite well..

TVB Index also fitted in that category. Despite being small back then, we both liked her quality posts and saw its potential to grow so we wanted to help her; and include her with us.
We didn't know how long our TVB Blogs will live for/last; but we knew we would have made a difference- a contribution- to the TVB Community, together :)

Lavendar_Bluez:are you friends or just readers? cause that leads to my future questions too HEHE =]

The first word that comes into mind is..sensitive. I think Metal is quite a sensitive person (not meaning to ruin his 'cool' image haha). I'm surprised that he actually cares when I get ticked off by him (we've had a few arguments before lol); and he'll genuinely apologize and try make up for it.

Metal does get a bit proud of himself at times; but ah...I'll just let him be lol

I can't think of my favourite TVB Musings posts- I generally like ones I agree with HAHA Particularly don't like it when he trashes the series I love (e.g Dicey Business & Men Don't Cry XD) Favourite feature? COMICS!! I love his comics, they're hilarious! Too bad there's not that many of them...they will definitely be a feature I'll miss!

Lavendar_Bluez: and well..i always wondered ...it's almost like asking for a grand production with my favorite stars [well that came true]....but have you three or even two of the three ever intended on a collaborated post??

KTVB:I actually thought about that one haha! Thought it'd be fun, but I don't think Metal liked the idea =X It sorta turned into the Top Affiliates thing instead ^^;

Yea..I remember in the past those kinda of things did happen- either with his posts about his personal life (before his personal blog was created) or negative feedback/remarks from the readers...he'd definately come and have a chat to me about it~ especially the ones relating to his posts/blog. Because we sorta share similiar circumstances and we both own our blogs- we can sorta relate to each other. I did feel bad for whats happened, and the least I could do was listen to him express how he felt about it; let him rant about things..just letting it all out I think helps. I try to cheer him up and not let that kinda thing get to him because it really isn't worth it

That's true..I sorta hinted the retirement-ish around October last year..when things in life started to get busy and all. And it sorta discourages you quite a bit when your other friends arent feeling that passion to continue their TVB blogs anymore. BUT! As you can see, I'm still hanging around lol I don't want to retire XD I won't be able to make a new post everyday like I used to with full episode summaries and screencaptures (I'm quite impressed with myself when I think back.. Annisa: I generally have a bad memory over first meetings so honestly, I don't remember anything in particular. I know I noticed him at WingLin back in the day but we never really talked. I believe we started conversing at TVSF about PGSM and then somehow, it developed into MSN messenging, email, and whatever else.

Lavendar_Bluez: How did the sister status come to be?

Annisa:Uh, because we have the same last name? Haha, I don't know. But it happened somewhere during the run of VOH where Hawick came into the scene and became the "Big Big Brother" so that's what Metal is to me.

Lavendar_Bluez: Are you a reader or more of a friend?

Annisa:I was a reader but now, it's more of a friend although I still read some selected posts of his.

You're Hired Episode 01 Brief Thoughts

After watching the first episode, I find the series kind of interesting.

Charmaine Sheh acts as Lam Miu Miu who is a pretty good debt collector from the first episode. She's able to track people quick and her mind easily comes up with new ways of tracking people down. What's interesting is that the character is being a debt collector in order to pay off her own debts...kind of weird but funny. She's a shopaholic at the same time..always buying brand name purses and such.

I think Charmaine's Attire in this series is pretty nice.The hair and clothing are all very fashionable =] And Charmaine Sheh looks really pretty!

Dayo Wong plays Mak Tai Song. He's intelligent and there is this mystery to him because he left a big business and disappeared for a year. He is somehow related to this girl who is in debt to the company Lam Miu Miu works for. I'm not sure if it is because they use to date each other...or what...

What I enjoy most is the Mak Yan Son & Lam Miu Miu interaction...both are intelligent people ..but they seem like they will become a bickering pair..Haha...im excited to see how it turns out...

As for now I've only watched episode 01..and when i get the chance...i'll watch the second episode...=]

For appetizers, we have seaweed salad! The delicious sesame-ness makes it very addictive. Hopefully Hyn5 likes it....but well she can't control today's menu.

Lavendar_Bluez: You seem like someone who really love the older generation, but I noticed Tavia is one of your favourites. What is it that you like about Tavia Yeung?

Hyn5:I really admire Tavia's personality. She is straight-forward and outgoing. As an artiste, she understands her position very well in TVB, and that is focusing on acting. Her acting is natural; it does not seem as though she is "acting" it out. She is able to convince the audience to believe that she is an ancient person that knows kung fu. Tavia's crying skills are controlled and not forced.

Lavendar_Bluez: I think so too, she makes me really believe she is that character. And her crying has definitely been acknowledged many times by her seniors. I always cry with actors who make me believe it's really painful what they are going through.

This is dragon [tempura] roll ---very delicious indeed. I enjoy the crispy eel and eel sauce that's drizzled all along it. And the only time I like avocado is with sushi...as of for now.

Lavendar_Bluez: There have been many analogies of younger generation becoming the next older generation. And there's been many talks about fa dans becoming #1 sisters at TVB. What are your opinions about Tavia becoming the new generation of Dong Ka Fa Dans or are they simply irreplaceable? [I anticipated the answer...despite knowing what the answer might be]

Hyn5: The "Dong Ka Fa Dans" are very distinctive, and their acting roads are different. They each have their own strengths in playing specific roles. That is why the "Dong Ka Fa Dans" do not overlap each other. Their images and unique acting define them as a "Dong Ka Fa Dan". I do not see any of the younger generation of fa dans replacing the "Dong Ka Fa Dans" because Tavia and the other younger actresses have their own style. The audience cannot expect young actresses to be like the "Dong Ka Fa Dans". We live in a world of change. The roles found in today's TVB series were not considered to be a leading role back then. I believe the thing that differentiates Tavia from the other younger actresses is that Tavia is more experienced and more polished.

Lavendar_Bluez: Ah....well said. Hyn5 is very insightful and best explains many of our thoughts. If it were me, I'd be talking in circles and no one would really understand my point [smiles sheepishly]

Lavendar_Bluez: To conclude this interview, I'll end off with a nice "IF" question. If you were to choose a role that you think Tavia would portray well, which role would it be?

Hyn5: [she thought for a moment and I saw a sparkle in the pair of eyes] I am looking forward to her evil role in "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" because it is a role that Tavia has not portrayed in the past. It is also a character for Tavia to explore her acting and really show the audience what she can do. Another role that I would like Tavia to try to portray is a girl with a physical disability such as a mute. I believe Tavia would play this role very well because Tavia has a pair of windows to the soul in acting. When people smile with only their mouths, the smile can be fake, but when the eyes are included in the smile, then the smile is real. Tavia understands how to use her eyes in acting, and she uses them well.

Lavendar_Bluez: Haha...Hyn5 makes me responses look bad, but nonetheless expresses what I think similarly. Since this wasn't a real conversation between me and her, I will now go to the dessert...

Also because after realizing I missed the opportunity to watch A Kindred Spirit Tonight -- Episode 1129...I am intent on waiting for the person who's sharing it to upload to the end...so meanwhile..might as well catch up when I get the chance.

Selectively Watching:
Off Pedder --> I'm only watching episodes about Teresa Mo/Wayne Lai/Stephen Au/Tsui Wing story lines. Not too interested in any other pairings or plots...some are a bit weird. Of the cast, I also do not mind watching Joyce Cheng, Wong Cho Lam and Aimee Chen but I won't purposely follow their stories. Also nice to see Celine Ma in a bigger role and have her own storyline too -->almost like A Kindred Spirit.

Behind the Glamour’s focus for this post will be on the popular and potential household fa dan, Tavia Yeung Yi. Just last year, Tavia Yeung was the winner for TVB Best Supporting Actress and this year, she might be running for Best Actress for her villainous role in grand production, Palace Scheme. While it may seem like she’s been hit with sudden fame, many of her fans would know that Tavia has been in the entertainment industry for more than 10 years now. Unlike most current fa dans who originate from beauty pageants, Tavia Yeung is actually a graduate from TVB’s 1998 Acting School. We currently do not see as many acting graduates on screen any more and Tavia has definitely made a long battle to come through to the viewers. Having less exposure and working from scratch, how has Tavia survived? How does she maintain such a devoted and large fan base? Through this feature, I hope to find out a little more on this rising household fa dan…

Tavia Yeung Yi does not shy away from danger to deliver her best on screen.

Manoeuvring a boat rocked by underwater explosions or jumping off a building while fighting suspended on wires is all in a day’s work for Hong Kong actress Tavia Yeung Yi. While stunts like these may be dangerous, none of them caused as much damage as a pair of high heeled shoes.

Long periods of filming all day sashaying around on dainty stilettoes when she was filming modern series had put tremendous strain on her spine. The demure actress suffered from an inflammation in the lower back leading to an irregular curvature in her spine.

“The doctor’s advice to me was to stop all activity and take a long break to recuperate. But to stop work totally means no income for me, so I just have to be more careful in the action scenes.”

Her latest TV series has her playing salt trader Dau Sing Suet in Sweetness in the Salt (Sing Suet Yim Jaan, 2008). “There are many action scenes as there is a lot of fighting involved. I enjoy them but I’m also worried that I might hurt my back and aggravate the old injury.”

Yeung also sings the series’ theme song with her co-star Steven Ma Chun Wai, who plays the male lead, Nip Ji Yuen.

The lovely actress vividly recalled some of her most dangerous stunts in Twin of Brothers (Dai Tong Seung Lung Juen, 2004), which was filmed in China during winter.
“It was freezing that night and I was dressed very lightly for temperatures that were likely below zero. It was quite terrifying to be floating about in the waters when the underwater explosion violently rocked the boat.”

Another dangerous stunt saw her running and jumping off a building suspended from a wire, then landing on her feet and unsheathing her sword, all in one single take.

“That was extremely difficult to do. I had to do more than a dozen takes.”

Favourite Role is being the busty Mimi

The actress says that her favourite role to date is Tam Chu Mei, otherwise known as sexy Mimi, in Dicey Business (Dou Cheung Fung Wan, 2006) where she had to wear a padded bra to portray a busty girl. She suggested to the director to give Mimi a speech impediment to make the character more adorable.
It was hailed as her breakthrough role by her steadily increasing number of fans. Where previously she played the innocent girl-next-door types, this role saw her delivering an overtly sexy character for the first time.

“I will not feel proud!” When Tavia Yeung received Best Supporting Actress, this was her speech on the stage that night.

Based on her willing to learn attitudes and her humbleness all these years, these are part of the reasons of her success today. As for those that helped her, she felt grateful to all of them. “Most important is to thank all the colleagues in my company, those that helped me before and those that collaborated with me before. However, those that I want to thank them personally are my family, my fans and also my manager. They grew up with me together and they were the one accompanied me all the time no matter when I was happy or sad.”

Manager is just like her good friend. On the 2nd year after she entered this industry, her manager started to manage her. “We have gone through a lot of things. All my works were managed by her. She brought me out for promotions, movies and advertisements. I admit that my temper is not very good and do not like to listen to other peoples but I will listen and do whatever she said. Other than my family, she is a very important person in my life.”

Entertainment industry is just like fireworks. Outshining moments are just temporary. Entered this industry for 10 years, Tavia Yeung used time to prove her ability and cherished every chances that she had. This was because she did not want to miss any opportunity that was given to her. After 10 years, she will put extra hard work and are willing to accept challenges.

Best Supporting Actress

Last year’s popular series in the year, Moonlight Resonance led to Tavia Yeung’s role inside, Ah Yuet to gain Best Supporting Actress Awards in TVB Anniversary Awards 2008. Recalling her speech during that night, most of the artistes that were present that night were as emotional as her. Her speech part which was being admired the most was when she firstly greeted veteran artiste, Lee Heung Kam. Respect the veterans is a virtue. Sometimes artistes would be over-excited and forgot everything when they received awards but her rational speech between her touched emotions really impressed everyone.

Time is realistic for an artiste. In 10 years time, some artistes would be leading a smoother road, would not [be] afraid of no chances to take part in series, would not [be] afraid of no awards and would be busy all the time. Some artistes would seem half promoted, popularity not enough and no chance to take part in series and what they could do is to wait. There would be some artistes that would work hard and fight with time every day. They would insist on work hard to build up ability and popularity.

Tavia Yeung belongs to the latter. She entered this industry for 10 years and it was a coincidence that she joined TVB Acting Training Class and entered this field. She never imagined before that something that she treated as a game would lead to a perfect career that she totally indulged in. “Last time, I did not know much about acting and I did not know what I could do. When I tried different roles, I found out that I loved this field very much and hoped that I could do better.”

Recalling her career road all these years, she did not treat herself as a senior but she found her enjoyment in another way. “Honestly, I did not experience big success or failure in my career. Sometimes when I worked until very tired, I would feel that I did not have energy to continue. That time I would feel that I was a failure. However I always feel that although there is hardship in entertainment industry, but at least my life is colorful every day as I will do different things every day.“ After 10 years, she hoped that she could have chance to try evil role. From a good person to a baddie, she hoped that she could try a different type of role.

In 10 years time, she experienced discouragement and disappointment but she never had the thinking of giving up. “I like acting. The satisfaction is very big and will give encouragement for me to strive further. I will always look forward for my next role after I finished with a role.”

Inner beauty in new era

When we asked Tavia Yeung to help us to do photo shooting for Gucci and Bontega fashion outfits, the arranged style and beauty was totally different from her. However, when she did posing in front of camera, her artiste’s feel appeared and her eye’s expression and whole outlook gave a very stylish feel.

After she received Best Supporting Actress, a lot of people said that Tavia Yeung is TVB’s Big Sister now. She was shocked and insisted that she did not feel herself is some sort of Big Sister. This was just a name given by other people and she will just continue to work hard in her job. “For me, being named as Big Sister is not important. I will just grab chances and play my roles well.” She understands that entertainment industry is a place that will accept peoples with ability and will kick out peoples who are weak. Every year, there will be newcomers with ability and good appearance. The competition is tight so she will grab any chances that she has because she do not want to miss the chances.

Currently, she is not dating and whenever she mentioned about her love relationship in the past, her face would be full of happiness look. She expressed that the award came from the confidence and certainness from the audiences and therefore, she will put extra efforts in the upcoming years in her work. Tavia said, “I do not want to disappoint those peoples that support me.” Dating and marriage are not her targets now. She hopes that she can try out different things like movies and singing. “Everything depends on fate. I’m not rushed into getting married. Being single is nice.” It seems that for her, the excitement in acting gave her more enjoyment than anything else.

I asked her a question which is every female artistes’ dream : Marry into a rich family. Tavia Yeung expressed, “Hahaha. If got, of course good! But I prefer to depend on myself. I enjoyed spending the money that I earned myself and also enjoyed work hard to earn money for my family.” Who doesn’t want to marry into a rich family? If there is chance, of course good but if there isn’t, there is no need for disappointment. Tavia Yeung prefers to marry a good guy and not to marry someone because of money.

Friendliness is priceless

The time is nearly 11 pm. After the interview, Tavia Yeung said thank you in a good manner and her smiles still maintained on her face. She is indeed a friendly person (Is it because I have the same surname with her as she has already noticed that when I gave her my name card?) and she took the initiative to shake my hand.

Looking at her friendly expressions, I asked her, “Do you have any close friends in the entertainment industry? Did you go out with Raymond Lam and Moses Chan privately before?”

Tavia Yeung turned towards her manager a while and said, “They are my male friends. Raymond and I were friends for many years. We graduated from the same training class. As for Moses, he is just like a big brother for me. He is someone that I can sit down and chat with him. Normally I will go shopping with Christine Ng, Jessica Hsuan and others. Actually I’m someone that easy to make friends with and someone that easy to chat with.”

Although I did not get my expected answer, but her friendliness came from her sincerity is something that I could not deny. I believe that based on her sincerity and her willingness to fight, soon we will get to see her outshining performance in the entertainment industry.

My Thoughts:

Firstly, I would like to clarify, that I’m not suppose to have so many articles for a focus but I found Tavia had many short interviews [at least to me it felt short]. The short interviews didn’t seem to sum up enough of her experiences, hence I found more. I was really hoping she showed up on Be My Guest but I guess Stephen Chen hasn’t got to the new generation yet. At the same time, I would also like to say that it was extremely difficult for me to choose between so many wonderful articles translated by Jessie1314. I felt as if each article I read, I wanted to share it because I honestly felt they were important aspects to share about Tavia but I knew I had to limit it (due to the fact that other fans will throw stones at me as this is the second Tavia feature I have done! Sorry guys, but results showed she had most readers anticipating her spotlight. Don’t worry though, I follow the poll results hence 2nd place would be my next spotlight).

Tavia Yeung is one of my favorite new generation actresses because every time I see her on screen, I’m captivated by her performance. Of course, in the beginning I was like many of the viewers (aside from the age factor) who didn’t really notice her. Back then, I was [and still am] a big fan of the household fa dans & siu sungs i.e Esther Kwan, Jessica Hsuan, Bobby Au Yeung, Gallen Lo, Marianne Chen etc. I didn’t really take notice of the new generation until most of these idols suddenly left TVB and I was left with new generation. At first I was kind of bitter, because I really didn’t like these sudden new faces. I was first introduced to Miss Tavia Yeung due to my younger sister, Flora. “Tavia” was literally at the tip of her tongue in most of our conversations. While I knew a “Tavia Yeung” existed because I liked her performance in Vigilant Force, I never followed up much on her. So how on earth did I suddenly grow to be a fan [yes I officially admit, I am a fan]?

As if by some luck, I got hit with a “Tavia Yeung Series Saga.” One summer I found I didn’t have much to do, so I decided to catch up on some of the old dramas my family managed to get. And that was it. I went from Shades of Truth to some Yummy Yummy, and enjoyed the Twin of Brothers. Well after that I did notice who Tavia Yeung and very quickly afterwards somehow I ended up having every single one of her series from 2006. Creepy you would think – my parents must really like her to have them all. Usually I am the type to hate an actor or actress for seeing them too much on screen, but for Tavia it was different. Her performance seemed refreshing each time and made me really believe who she portrayed. Whether she plays a nerd-trying-to-fit-in-with-society or the big-bust-and-materialistic dumb blonde role, each performance was well delivered. Hence, began my likeness towards her.

She’s hardworking

Being in the entertainment industry, everyone needs to work hard in order to stay alive. Tavia is no different, and she’s been working hard for many years now, and it’s evident. Recent years, acting opportunities became more for the pageants. Back then, the system was completely different --- you had to be really good in order to survive and get jobs. Now a day, everything is more about making profit and that requires ‘pretty’ people to act as representatives of brands. I recently heard in the radio about how Renee Dang the singer who cried about finally being able to release an album after a year and a half. The reason being was that managers only promote people who they think would sell better with other companies and even if you did have talent, the fact that you lacked in appearance meant less promotion. In Tavia’s case, I think this fact is kind of applicable. I think Tavia is actually really pretty but I guess pageant winners have more title to them and have been recognized by the audience. Hence during the year 2000s, we began seeing a lot more pageants showing up on television and earning more sponsors. Tavia who just started from acting academy would obviously be affected as the focus turned to the pageants. These past 10 years, she has to work really hard and face the emotion of not being as ‘red’ as others. We’ve all heard crazy stories where people who couldn’t get popular, do some really silly things. It’s really not easy to work so hard yet not get the acknowledgement one deserves. Since the company isn’t promoting her, then gets the crummy roles or work in low budget series. Who knows when will she get her shot at fame? Less promotion means fewer jobs. When will she get the boost in income? Now Tavia is rising in popularity. I think Tavia has always been popular as she has many loyal fans that have been there long before the Moonlight Resonance stuff, but I think she’s gaining a lot more recognition from the regular TV viewers. She really deserves the promotion –like Wayne Lai and Nancy Wu whom also recently gained increase opportunities

Final Words

Now I do not want everyone thinking that I’m saying I know Tavia Yeung well enough to say she’s the greatest person in the world. I also know very clearly that the entertainment circle is a very dark world where it’s really foggy to know who is good and who is bad. I do not want to make any clear statements about personality stuff but I’ve read many articles about what her colleagues say about her – and they are positive stuff. Some may say that she’s rude, but I think she is more straightforward due to her long term participation in the entertainment industry. It is also this attribute which makes me like her a lot =] I wish Tavia all the best and hope that her acting career continues to run smoothly. the Name:
To be honest I’m not too fond of the current English or Chinese name but I’ve never seen a series go through so many names and there’s even a story to it.

English Tentative titles:

The Grand Entrepreneurs, Gold-Plated Family, The Crime Inducing Effects of Money, Money Leads to Crime, Roots of Evil, The Door of Wealth

Chinese Tentative titles:
金装豪门, 金钱诱罪

Now the original name was actually suppose to be 金钱诱罪 or Roots of Evil. How it ended up being Born Rich or 富贵门 was due to the amount of bad luck it brought to the cast. It’s almost like the title: Macbeth…. There’s just a huge curse to it that the producers simply changed the name for good luck. Hence I’m curious to see what the series it about that it had to have such a dark title to it.

the Background:

When the series was first said to be filmed, it was rumored that it would be based on the richest family in Hong Kong. It was then said that the family would sue if TVB did that hence TVB clarified that it has nothing to do with them. Did TVB really adhere to there promise?

While the cast members lack a lot of youth but they are all grand actors and actresses.

Ray Lui: (grand actor in Mainland market & early TVB actor who has mesmerized dozens of housewives. He was in the Bund)
Gallen Lo: (TVB king: won many best actor awards, grand actor in Mainland market, singer, 90’s TVB Siu Sung) It’s Gallen Lo! I adore watching his series! Plus, he is In Love With TVB 2008 Most Welcomed Back Actor (based on poll results).
Joe Ma (TVB 90s siu sung) : gasp left him blank (thanks to hyn5 for noticing) -- I dont have a deep impression of him probably because I havent watched a lot of his series, until WESFOTSW. I actually found his character to be interesting and I think Joe suits the villainous type of roles. I wonder how his chemistry with Anita will be?
Anita Yuen: (grand actress in Mainland market, early TVB actress, movie actress, last scene in Love Game) a wonderful actress and she’s funny on game shows. She has a real era of being a “first sister” as she is professional is known to be very straightforward and demanding.
Kenix Kwok: (grand actress in Mainland market, 90’s TVB fa dan, always been a hot favourite for TVB best actress)..I miss Kenix!! Can’t wait to see her again!
Jamie Chik: (TVB 80’s Fa Dan) When she left she portrayed young teenage girls...now that she's back she's portraying a mother sort of role. I wonder what it'll be like?
Nancy Sit: (The 5th princess of the “7 Princesses” , TVB’s elderly sister: Ka Yin jie, actress in Mainland/Singapore/Taiwan, singer, producer) excited to see Nancy in another series!
Benz Hui Siu Hung: okay…everyone knows who he is and adores him! I love this guy! He’s a great actor even if he is the supporting actor. If I remember correctly he has won Astro’s Best Supporting Actor.
Angelina Lo Yuen Yan: commonly remembered as Ah Wong’s mom. Another great supporting actress!

Wu Fung :(veteran of TVB: Sau Gor, god father of many grand actors I.e Andy Lau, Leon Lai etc.)…strange fact about him is that in real life he stutters when he talks but you wouldn’t notice it when we see him in shows because once you give him a script and a rhythm he talks normally.

the Facts:

This series has so many return stars, such as Jamie Chik, Ray Lui, Kenix Kwok and Lai Yiu Ming. It is also Gallen Lo, Anita Yuen and Nancy Sit’s second series since returning. In other words, it is a really refreshing cast! Not many of them cooperated together before, so I’m excited to see how it works out.

Kenix Kwok commented that this is her first series in which she has had so many kissing scenes. Haha in other words Kenix has never had to do so many kisses in a series before. Hopefully they don’t overdo it!

It has been 20 years since Jamie Chik and Ray Lui played a pair since Snowy Fox on A Mountain. They were a golden pairing back then, and this time they play husband and wife again. I quite like Jamie and Ray in the interviews and I hope they still have good chemistry in the series.

Kenix Kwok had once said that she wanted to work with Nancy Sit but thought she lost the opportunity when A Kindred Spirit ended(info credits to Michelle Beloved). She’s happy to know she gets the chance to cooperate with her. The funny thing is, aren’t they like partial family anyways? I remember in the news that Nancy held a banquet to “kei” her brothers which included: Frankie Lam, Louis Yuen, Michael Tse, Timmy Hung and Johnny Tang. In other words she became their god sister since the early 2000s. The Virtues of Harmony cast has always been very close, hence I remember for fun Frankie and Kenix also did a mini Chinese wedding ceremony with the VOH cast. In which then Kenix served tea to her “mother in-law”.

Due the believed curse of the series name, a lot of terrible things have happened amongst the cast while filming. For example, Gallen Lo for some reason had diarrhoea for a few days, an expensive boat that was used for filming suddenly sunk into the ocean. The one that caused the most commotion though was Nancy Sit’s illness which resulted in a lot of change to the script. She was admitted to the hospital three times and was in a coma for over 10 hours. To find out more on what happened to her, visit Nancy Sit Fan Site. Anyways as a result of this, she originally had another 200 scenes to film but it was reduced to 100. In other words her original scenes were said to have been given to Anita Yuen to carry out. As well since she had to rest, she didn’t join the cast to film in Shabah, Malaysia. What the film crew did was found a Nancy look-a-like to take her place. Apparently the cast thinks this substitute really looks like Nancy Sit, so I’m curious to see what she looks like. As well, after going through so much trauma, it seemed to have brought the cast closer. Especially the ones who are part of the main family, in interviews they look so warm and touching. I’m anticipating to see how the family chemistry works out

Another wealthy family, hence I’m excited to see the sceneries. From pictures the locations they filmed at are really nice and sunny! So hopefully to see some gorgeous locations!

Gallen Lo is a villain! I’m excited to see how it’ll be like. He’s always been the big brother in my heart and I really love him being one, yet being a villain is interesting. Apparently this villain struggles to decide if he wants family or wealth. And I love watching Gallen act, hence I anticipate his performance!

I’m back from my exams and have a little break before my summer course starts so thought I’d better post something before my blog is completely deserted!

An Eye on Two Grand Productions-Part 1

For months the two grand productions, Beyond the Realm of Conscience and Born Rich have been one of the highlights of entertainment news. Both series are highly anticipated by many of us TVB viewers and recently it has been said that these two grand productions will be the anniversary series of 2009. Beyond is said to be released on October 19th, 2009 in Hong Kong as well as TVB’s representative pieces in the Mainland and Korean market. I’m just as excited as everyone else to see both productions and I’ve finally caught up on all the news I missed out while being away. Allowing me to compile a list of reasons to watch the series when it comes out:

Beyond the Realm of Conscience

The Name:

Now while the English name sounds confusing but it has mysterious tone to it. “Conscience” is a sense of what is right or wrong. The title gives [ME] the impression that the drama will have a lot of heart wrenching characters. They might even be good people to begin with but the fact that they live in the palace makes them do things they know is wrong. But they do it anyway because that’s the only way they could survive.

Tentative Titles:
Lau Sam Ho, Jewel in the Palace HK version, Palace Scheme

Out of all those titles, I prefer the current English title.

The Chinese title: 《宫心计》 has a nice ring to it even though it’s very straight forward. I prefer it over 《刘三好》 because then that just narrows the story into having to focus only on the main character Lau Sam Ho (Charmaine Sheh). As well 《宫心计》 has a more tempting title like any drama with the word “Fung Bo” or “Fung Wan” seems to attract a crowd. The idea that its about schemes within the palace is all the more reason to watch. Who doesn’t like a cleverly planned plot against other characters that involves betrayal, deception and a major smack in the face?

The Background:

　　Beyond is said to be based on the popular Korean Drama, Jewel in the Palace that caused a major entrance of Korean dramas in Hong Kong. I remember for a long period every single Chinese channel seemed to play a Chinese dubbed Korean drama since Jewel in the Palace aired. Even HK entertainment news focused on interviewing Korean celebrities. While I wasn’t fond of Jewel in the Palace (one reason being it was too long), I think I’m going to like Beyond. The reason is that it’s shorter, I know who the cast are, I don’t have to read subtitles to understand and well I didn’t really finish Jewel in the Palace so it’ll seem refreshing for me. Besides the producer is Mui Siu Ching (梅小青) who’s made series such as Where the Legend Begins and The Breaking Point

The Cast:

This has to be one of the most tasty bunch of cast members. Now when I say tasty, I mean the leads are people with big fan groups but the co-leads or minor characters are also a popular bunch. It’s a refreshing co-operation because for once its not a “War and Beauty” or “Dance of Passion” or “Heart of Greed” mesh. Okay, maybe like a few from each put together but it’s better than an entire ensemble.

They always seem to play minor characters but every role they portray is done to their best. Hence as viewers we recognize who they are.
Kara Wai Ying Hung (part of the Hung Martial Arts family, 3rd wife in Rosy Business)
Rosanne Lui San (she’s a singer in real life, the mom in Last One Standing)
Mary Hon : who doesn’t know Mary (Ma-Lei jie)? I love watching her!
Yvonne Lam Yi Kei (the aunt in Virtues of Harmony aka Sister OK or Einstein)
June Chan: she’s always a minor character but I think she acts really well (psst..the one who’s newly married to Jack Wu)
Krystal Tin: she use to work for ATV but she’s so good TVB got her (woot!). Probably best remembered as the Louisa So’s nicer sister/main actress in Phoenix Rising.
Lee Kwok Lun (11th brother in Virtues of Harmony)
Lau Dan: gosh …everyone knows who Lau Dan is ….he’s practically in every series.
Kwok Fung (Linda Chung’s father in A Journey Called Life)
Tang Zhi Kwong I love this guy! It’s rare to find him in series now a days, I think he’s more selective. Probably best remembered as Ah Fuk in A Kindred Spirit.

While researching for the cast of this series, I broke out into laughter to find out that more than 90% of the cast in this series will be villains. So the pressure is on for Tavia Yeung as not only does she have to be a good villain but she has to seem more evil than everyone else. Meanwhile it is also a pressure for Charmaine Sheh because with so many villains in the series, being the good character is just as difficult because then the story will make her too angelic (which will make her very Hor Ma like). So hopefully Charmaine will be able to portray a not overly pitiful character or else the audience will just be sick with it.

Tavia Yeung will be a villain which is refreshing and not refreshing at the same time. It’s refreshing because I highly anticipate her playing an evil character. The not refreshing part is that the new fad is villains. Hence not only is she fighting to outshine her co-villains in the series but as well as all the other villains that are popping up in other series. So it’s exciting to see what happens as I absolutely adore watching Tavia on screen. Hence I will be rooting for her! Psst….due to the amount of pressure, Tavia got diarrhoea….let’s try to make up for it by showing some support!

The scenery and costumes look gorgeous. I love pretty looking things and since the time period isn’t the usual Chinese dynasty (as it’s based on a Korean drama) hence it’ll have refreshing looks. From interviews I’m already excited to see how it will work out. Especially Lee Kwok Lun’s costume…it‘s intimidating and makes him look very feminine.

Honestly, the ladies of this series put their lives out there. Those head sets are so heavy that many of them are wearing neck braces and are undergoing therapy. The least we could do is show some support!

I’m actually curious on how the relationships will work out. It is said that Charmaine and Kevin will be playing a pair again, but Moses will fall in love with Charmaine and Tavia. -- I didn’t really watch Ivan and Bell in Forensic Heroes II hence I will have to see why the paparazzi are hounding Charm and Kevin. To be honest, I wanted Charmaine and Frankie to be together in FH2 but sadly they didn’t. -- So there will a square relationship. It is also rumoured there is a square relationship involving Michelle Yim, Susanna Kwan, Lee Kwok Lun (?) and someone else. I’m not quite sure but I know there is suppose to be some sort of relationship for the two veterans. If it is the case, I am also anticipating how that’ll work out because it’s been a long time since TVB has developed a really good relationship story for the veterans. You may say, “how gross!” but really back then TVB had some good “old couples”. Now we only see it in Mainland dramas which I (sadly) watched as my parents play them during dinner. It’s so weird to watch a love story develop between veterans but the script is so well written that you find there to be so much chemistry.

There will be some really cruel punishment scenes! In the news it was reported that Tavia’s character had her lips sewn together for saying too much. Supposedly Charmaine’s character gains a scar because she gets punished together with Tavia. Hence a knife went through Charm and Tavia’s hands. Call my gross but in a way I’m excited to see these scenes. I’m so sick of the major one slap stuff (Moonlight Resonance gave me a good ounce of it to drive me nuts!)

haha it's been awhile since I've posted, which I apologize for since it is that season of sickness and culminating and exams. I am actually still busy, but I found this really funny video wanted to share with you guys, it has two of my favourites: KATE TSUI & MYOLIE WU and well Stephen Chan's voice.

Haha I always knew they were good friends, but this is first time I actually see them interact. Maybe also because they are same music company now? (i think). But yeah, they are like sisters. Know each other's songs and moves. Myolie was imitating Kate's dance move while Kate was singing one of Myolie's songs (i dont recall name but its the really blues-jazzy feeling to it). Anyways this video made my day, and I'm wondering what they were doing --> Jade Solid Gold? ...and well I decided to share it with any other Kate or Myolie fans!! tehee!!! P.S...Stephen seems like the more fun guy in comparison to virginia lok...

自08年底开拍以来，历经将近4个月的拍摄时间，TVB09年的金装大戏《富贵门》（前名《金钱诱罪》）终于将在日内杀青了，预计上映日期是TVB的台庆档，即09年的10月或11月份。

They say that it is very likely that Born Rich will be this year's TVB Anniversary Series (NOOOOOOOO!!!!!). But it might air sometime in October or November.

I swear to goodness gracious I hope it airs in September or October!!! I don't want Born Rich to be TVB Anniversary Series. PLEASE!!!

As for Beyond the Realm of Conscience, since it is not expected to be done filming until June. Hence it is rumored to air sometime in March or April.

#10 Most Anticipated TVB Series

#10 Most Anticipated TVB Series: Rosy Business 巾幗枭雄

I look forward to this series because it has a terrific cast: Sheren Tang, Wayne Lai, Kiki Sheung, Nancy Wu, Ron Ng (slowly starting to like :D), Joel Chan, Kara Hui. The sales presentation of this series looked really good and I think I'm going to really enjoy this battle of the wits sort of thing. Sheren being the fourth wife who the husband loves the most and has entrusted all his stuff to will be fighting against the other 3 wives and the household members. She's to look for her husband's replacement in the business. Wayne Lai will make it difficult for Sheren, which will cause a lot of intensity in this show.

The themesong it okay but I was slightly expecting something more strong and intense sort. Haha...but nonetheless the song is beautiful :D Will I watch it? It really depends on whether or not I have the time...I would love to but I might not be able to enjoy it until later...

Would like to first apologize for not updating in so long...if you red my previous post, you'd know what happened and well now I finally got the chance to just finish things up for this post...

The ABC's of In Love With TVB

"In Love With TVB" a blog name I coined up after finding myself no matter how disappointed I get in a series, or how poorly written a series is...I still find myself enjoying their productions...atleast I only watch the ones I like. This layout's theme was Artistes Galore, but it's not just any actors or actresses (and yes I know I did say I like all...but there are some exceptions I felt deserve even more credit and biasm from me). Hence I would like to introduce some of my favourites of the bunch.

Warning: The following does not represent ALL that I feel...the descriptions were slightly editted to fit the pattern. As well, beware as this post might be bias (I MEAN..I AM HIGHLIGHTING MY FAVOURITES HERE....) so dont bash me if you hate the choice I made or something. LOL. As well, this post was done at different times, so there isn't a consistency in my style...and I got lazier....so I might not compliment some as well as I do for others. BUT just to remind you..this isn't ALL that I think...it was editted, shorten, made weirdly to fit our theme. Thank You.

So what does I.N. L.O.V.E . W.I.T.H. T.V.B represent?

I is for....

It’s undeniable that no matter what veteran comes back to TVB; Liza Wang will forever remain #1 of all their employees. She’s got the attitude, she’s got the fame, she’s got the status and she’s got the talent. She’s gives off the impression of a diva attitude which I think comes with the package of being THE #1 sister at TVB, but I think she has a softer spot that’s only available to her friends.

She’s famous at TVB because she’s devoted so much of her time for this company from a young teenage girl all the way to her current stage in life. Her talent is also what makes her famous because she’s generally good at what she does. She’s terrific at acting because no matter what role she plays, she just does it well and I find no matter what role she plays, I end up liking her even if they are barbaric. She just has this amazing “x factor” that will always be recognized as “ah jie.” Her sharp tongue also makes her great for hosting and while her voice does has this rasp to it, she can definitely sing. I remember seeing her in Miriam Yeung’s 2004 concert where she surprised her by singing “Young Maiden’s Prayer.” This song is really high for someone her age but she did it and it’s because she put a lot of practice into it. As much as I found Liza Wang’s performance at the TVB Gala slightly disturbing, she does have skills in dancing – but please, never again do you pull a pole dancing & booty shaking & break dancing all at once...it’s too much for me to handle -_-;;.

Lastly, her status at TVB is inevitable because she’s always the centre of TVB gatherings. What TVB Anniversary photo is she not upfront and in the middle? Even others who share the “Ah jie” status still calls her “ah jie,” but she isn’t completely obnoxious as she does show love to her jie-sisters. I actually once wondered if Louise Lee might take over this spot, as she is running high on fame since Heart of Greed and her acting is just as marvelous. I personally think Liza Wang will forever be the #1 sister of TVB, but who knows? What do you guys think?

N is for ....

I’m not talking about next generation of fa dans and siu sungs, because well obviously a lot of people can end up being a fa dan and siu sung. No, what I’m talking about is the next generation of Dong Ga Fa Dan and Siu Sung -> Household Fa Dan and Siu Sungs. They are the ones who I think will make it far into sister status (so not quite ah jie but sister like Maggie Cheung, Kenix Kwok, Ada Choi etc.) and brother status. Household refers to the representatives of TVB because they have skills and are people worth promoting as a TVB artiste. Household can also refer to the fact that viewers love them and know who they are. Raymond Lam, Kenneth Ma, Bosco Wong, Tavia Yeung, Myolie Wu and Kate Tsui definitely have potential into being the next generation.

Raymond, Kenneth and Bosco are who we can call, “housewife-killers” which means housewives absolutely adore them --this term is held up by Michael Tao (was?) and Bobby Au Yeung – but they also have young fans as well. I find Raymond to be the charming boy who’s cute and a mommy’s boy. His crying and his willingness for love melts young girl’s hearts (yes, I fall for that stuff too). I haven’t seen many of his series, but the ones I did watch, I did enjoy watching his performance. He is definitely an eye candy and is also in the singing industry, making him have a pretty good fan base.

Upcoming Series that I’m interested in Watching: Picking Stars of Adventure

I really like watching Bosco act, because I always fall into his character. He can be the spoiled rebelling jerk who can accept the fact that his brother is Ah Wong. He can be the foolish guy in Aqua Heroes who gets picked on by everyone. He can also be the calm, intelligent guy (my favorite type for him) who has these fancy glasses that make him look daring but rich. He has acting capabilities and he’s charming off screen. He’s definitely someone people would like to follow up with.

Upcoming Series that I’m interested in Watching: Picking Stars of Adventure

Kenneth is probably the least active of the two because he’s generally playing more minor roles than them. He may not be the best looking guy, but I really like his shyness –which is a trait very popular with girls. He seems like the gentleman type who cares a lot for old people. Kenneth has charm on screen and he’s very genuine off screen as well. He has a lot of fans even though he doesn’t play more major roles.

Upcoming Series that I’m interested in Watching: Born Rich aka The Door of Wealth aka Roots Of Evil aka The Grand Entrepreneurs

Tavia Yeung is an actress I’ve slowly grown to really like. Her acting is terrific, whether she’s playing someone soft spoken, weak, teen mother, spoiled, diva, sentimental, ill or blunt. She makes me really feel like she’s that character (so I often confuse myself for her real personality.) She also has this distinct beauty to her, and off screen charisma that makes me like her. She is quite popular and has many friends in the industry. Her choice of path has built her to be who she is, giving her the experience and professionalism dong ka fa dans need. She is a representative piece of the acting academy and is well applauded by veterans.

Upcoming Series that I’m interested in Watching: Palace Scheme (if it’s not too long)

Myolie Wu, has “hei jut” off screen, no wonder Liza Wang adores her. She has that aura to her where she’s free to chat with the older generation yet knows her place at the same time. She has this “sisterly” quality to her that shows confidence but not egoistic which is important in the industry. Myolie is a pageant but I must say she’s not as bad as some of the other pageants I’ve seen. Myolie can play someone with a disability (Golden Faith), someone soft spoken, someone determined or someone barbaric. Her role as Chow Lai Man in War of In Laws II is probably my favorite of hers. Her crying has improved and can be beautiful while her yelling scenes are quite powerful too. She also has singing capabilities and in my opinion, most preferred of the recent fad of running from actor to “singer” route. Her “hei jut”, acting and singing makes her one of the better products of pageant winners (in recent years).

Upcoming Series that I’m interested in Watching: Chau Heung angers Tong Bak Fu

Kate Tsui is also probably the least active of the other two girls. She still needs some brushing up on her acting, but she’s improving. I think she caught my attention with her off screen personality. She has this little girl side to her despite having very mature and pretty face. She has potential and she has been complimented as very hard working.

Upcoming Series (to be confirmed) that I’m interested in Watching: Heaven and Earth

L is for...

Christine Ng has an entertaining off screen personality, because she’s very bubbly and silly. She loves laughing – even if there’s nothing THAT funny thus laughter is represented by her. If there’s anyone who I really like watching on variety shows, she’s definitely one of them. She has this funny personality to her that just makes me laugh. She can be talking and then break into laughter. Yet she remains professional and not let this side of her affect her filming. Hence, it comes unexpected when watching her off screen to find that she’s this “Dai Siu Goo Por” type of character. She just uncontrollably laugh that makes others around her really happy and laughing too. But actually, Christine hasn’t been able to fully laugh until her Twin of Brothers debut. Why? Actually, Christine use to be labeled as a “bad women” because her first marriage was to a man who was 30 years older. 13 days later, he died leaving her a huge sum of money in his will. Since then, many viewed her with eyes of disgust and when she married again (her current husband) people felt she was lazy. What did Christine do wrong? She didn’t kill someone, or start a fire but she was treated as if she did. Even TVB didn’t take her seriously which caused her many years of pain. In 2004, while filming in China though, it seems as if TVB saw her for who she was and since then we see Christine a lot. Since then, many people seemed to have changed their views on her and Christine slowly revealed her happy self. I guess I’m really happy now that Christine can laugh maniacally.

Nancy Sit a household entertainer and belongs in the entertainment industry. Unlike Liza’s diva’s personality, Nancy’s “ah jie” quality is one of being genuine, kindness and principles. Don’t look down on these traits though, because when things happen, the strength of your social network shows a lot. She has status in China and has many friends in the entertainment circle. She’s entertaining off screen or on screen, making her a likeable figure. She’s the bubbly little lady who may seem “out” but her heart warming smiles hide her life experiences. Having a failed marriage, being conned, wanting to commit suicide, and being ill, it’s hard to tell because she has this radiance to her that makes her pretty and warm. She’s respected and liked by other entertainers the moment they meet her. She admits, she’s not good at acting but I think her sister status is built by who she is and how others view her. Nancy chooses to influence others by her work ethics and her personality. It’s evident how accepted she is by those older than her in the circle (i.e Paula Tsui, Liza Wang, Alan Tam etc.) and even those younger than her (i.e Andy Lau, Joey Yung, Eason Chan, Jordan Chan etc.). Her motherly trait puts smiles to people’s faces.

Sheren Tang use to be defined as cute during her younger days, now I think she is defined by elegance in her image and her acting. Since I became a fan of Sheren (since Aqua Heroes), I always found her to be pretty. In recent years, since she’s been finally recognized, now has this aura of beauty. It could be this coolness she has to her and sometimes good fashion. Or it could be the fact that when I look at her, she looks like a woman who means business. The elegance part of her is her works. She has wonderful acting and she’s always into character. It’s as if each role she plays, she allows herself to become that character. The elegance is in her ability to make every one of her roles so believable and loveable. Her elegance has turned a minor character (Yu Fei) into a sudden main lead in War and Beauty. Her elegance has carried Hilda jie into someone who should be despised into someone who everyone loves. Sheren brings elegance into everything she does and as viewers, we love it. Beauty is an evident feature of hers and her acting makes her shimmer. Her persistence in not signing contract with TVB makes it harder for us to admire her, but every time she is on screen whether

If there’s anyone who can lighten up the atmosphere with small little remarks that cause us to smile, it’d be none other than Bobby Au Yeung. Bobby always has the wittiest remarks to questions either popped by the paparazzi or Stephen Chan. It’s not wonder we love him so much. Bobby has the image of a comedian, with a chubby face and a hilarious expression. Yet he’s not just a guy who relys on how he looks to be funny, what he says are what’s priceless to make us crack. He always knows what to say and has really good timing. Remember back in 2006, while Charmaine Sheh was saying her speech for Best Actress, she said, “I don’t know who else to thank, I’ve already said it all already..” and out of nowhere, someone calls, “Your forgot to thank me!” She asks, “Who are you?” And he says, “Bobby Au Yeung!” This was kind thing for Bobby to do because it caused a chuckle and relaxed Charmaine a bit more. On screen, he also has just a wonderful timing. Playing a comedic role isn’t easy because timing is very important and how you express it as well. Bobby can play all sorts of roles but we’re most likely familiar with his comedic acting. Thus he’s a witty character on screen and off screen, capturing many of our hearts.

In many of Ada Choi’s series, she portrays the strong lady roles who will not count on anyone but herself. She’s determined, strong and will never bow down to difficulties. She will always work with what she has and tries to stand back up. In real life, she’s just as independent. In 2000, she revealed that she had been paying for her mother’s millions of dollars gambling debts since she was 17 years old. All of her earnings since entering the pageant when she was simply 17 went to paying of these debts. As time went by though, the debts just kept increasing and Ada was forced to stop her connections with her mother. Despite Ada having some roles that are very chicken –like, I don’t think Ada’s ever used her life difficulties as an excuse as to how she deals with others in the entertainment business. Many idolize her not only for her abilities but for strong attitude. Of course, just because she’s independent, doesn’t mean she doesn’t need love in her life. After her divorce, I’m very happy to congratulate Ada and Max on finally tying the knot. I guess now Ada can be a “little lady” off screen and the independent woman we see on screen. --- (Of course, although I gave Ada, “independence” I understand very well she’s not the only one who underwent difficult life experiences)

H is for...

Moses Chan had captured my eye during his guest role in Aqua Heroes playing a Japanese music manager. It didn’t occur to me he was Moses then, but I was somehow amazed by the men in black aura in which he presented himself. It wasn’t until War and Beauty did I actually watch a drama with him in it. Then came along Dut Dut Dei in Heart of Greed and had watched him since. Most of my time though was enjoying his off screen personality, playing with other actors and cracking small jokes. It could be that he makes funny faces or he’s just playful. On screen, he’s definitely good at playing villains enough to make me not like him and he can definitely play the sensible good guy. Of course, my favorite though is generally his comedic type roles that make him seem a bit childish but not exaggerative. He’s amusing and can put a smile to my face. He’s also a game show favorite even though he can be put on the spotlight for his rumors. I find him humorous in the sense that he’s playful making him very entertaining to watch.

T is for...

Gallen Lo amazes me as an actor who can play a wide range of roles – but very well and into character. Can playing a wife range of roles - where villains can be hated to the guts and yet at the same time deserve sympathy, good guys that have cold blooded personalities or even plainly good yet not angelic - be a talent? Well I guess you can play a wide range of roles, but is it convincing? Being a three time well deserved best actor, I think Gallen has the ability to be versatile and believable. Watching him since I was a child, I’ve always loved his characters when ever I got the chance to see him. His characters were always memorable to me and I never once confused him for another role of his. It always seems like he’s someone different and he never seems to be out of character. In a way, I find his acting to be very natural and flowing, because he does put lots of effort into his works. Even playing someone of the opposite sex for a great portion of Mr. Diana didn’t seem to be a problem for him. It’s not just the appearance he focused on - with the chic bob, makeup and inflated chest - but he really did act like a woman with the talk, expressions and formality because his character was possessed by one. Gallen makes every single one of his roles special with his ability to perform and be in character.

Well in this entertainment industry, it’s undeniable that all artistes be somewhat look-able whether or not you have talent. But to be able to defy time and to always look beautiful and young can only be done by few. Michelle Yim would always be the first person or the most common candidate for this description. If I didn’t tell you, would you even think she looks 53 years old? If there’s anyone who can play different stages of life starting from mid 30s, Michelle is your person. She’s aged beautifully and looks the same as the time she entered the industry. To be straight to the point, she’s been “keeping” very well.

Sorry For Not Updating in A While...

My break has started though, so I've already started my posts (I'm in the process of writing it). Meanwhile, thought I'd share this interesting Silver Chamber of Sorrows Poster with you guys!! (Hahah Janeal!!!! Lookie!)

Based on its appearance, I'm thinking this is the China/Non-HK poster version. Cause it resembles the covers of my Dad's China DVD's sort. The paper in a plastic bag with discs on the inside sort of thing. Wow, it looks just as good because they included the fire scenes and I'm assuming the leads were made bigger. (Its the one you see at TVB.com but the images have been reflected (shirley's clip is on the other side).

This isn't a picture I took, but I found it on baidu and wanted to share it with you guys. You can tell someone took this picture through a glass mirror of some sort.

I'm only sharing with you Rosy Business..because there's Sheren!! Woot!!! I miss seeing her!!

I feel really bad for Sheren because everyone is going to "wut" her and blame her for everything. Argh..one of those stories I cant bare to watch cause I feel bad for the character and I know it just gets worse for her. But I'm going to try and watch cause there's Sheren and Wayne!! Yes!! Woot!! Woot!!

This also reminds me of the original sales presentation clip they used for Beneath the Charm. Funny how they used Sheren Tang and Bobby to sell it..but in the end neither was used. LOL.

Sheren looked really pretty!! And I think I would have prefer Ratings King (Bobby Au Yeung) and Queen (Sheren Tang) working together for this drama instead. But nonetheless Gigi and Moses did pretty well too. Hope Bobby and Sheren can cooperate again!

So Happy!! Thus this layout's theme is my favourites. So for the upcoming posts, it will be more about my thoughts on stuff and about my favourites. News Update on Roots of Evil: Roots of Evil cast members miss Nancy Sit, Anita Yuen scolds her for working too hard

On March 3, 2009 Kenneth Ma and Sharon Chan were filming for the grand production, The Roots of Evil. Upon mentioning Nancy Sit’s halt due to illness, Sharon says,

“I really miss her! I haven’t seen her in awhile. While filming she would wince in pain but always say that it’s just old joint paints. Mom is really courageous, she’s ill but she continues to film. It is important for her to take rest and all of us support that.” Will they change the filming, Sharon is unsure. They will be going to a ShaBa location to film, Sharon says that Nancy doesn’t have many outdoor scenes.

Kenneth Ma states, “I know her (Nancy Sit), even if she was in pain, she would hide it and deny it. She is professional and doesn’t want to affect other’s work,”

Roots of Evil cast arrived to ShaBa Mall to film an outdoor scene, cast members included Gallen Lo, Anita Yuen, Joe Ma, Kenneth Ma, Vincent Wong and Sharon Chan. In regards to the news that Nancy Sit was in the hospital and has halt her filming, majority of the cast members have been scared to disturb her rest. Yesterday they decided a different method where everyone signed a card to ask about her.

Gallen Lo states, “I admire her. She always makes the effort to hide her pain and act energetic. I have faith that she will be back and stronger!”

Anita Yuen had sent her a text message and was replied that she (Nancy) was still recovering and may take 10 days or so. Anita admits that she saw Nancy who was pale and lips were blue, upset and unable to bear to see Nancy like this she urged, “Your kids are grown up now, you shouldn’t work so hard. Even if you do work, shouldn’t push yourself!”

Tavia in Kindred Spirit?

Haha, lately I've been into rewatching TVB's longest running series, A Kindred Spirit. Anyways, I happen to be watching episode 1049 and look who I saw:

Doesn't she look familiar? Well I can't completely say 100% it's her, but oh my it's Tavia Yeung!! Haha! She looks so young and cute! Haha and of the cameos in that scene, she had the most dialogue!! Wow, she hasn't changed much, aged prety nicely. I guess the only difference is, now Tavia's a fa dan whose got capabilities so she's got make up. Back then only cameo, at most she got lipstick. Haha but still I can see it's Tavia...or someone who really looked like her when Tavia was younger. lOL

Any Tavia fans can help me confirm? I know the acting class group definetely participated in A Kindred Spirit or VOH as cameos. psst according to MetalAZNWarrior, apparently Raymond Lam and Ron Ng played guards in Virtues of Harmony Ancient version!! I never caught that, but I enjoy looking back at how people started small and became big =]...lol..

Finally..they are going to let Greatness be visible. I think it's a shame though that they made this warehoused. I mean, it has Leila Tong! Kent Cheng! Rebecca Chan! Sunny Chan! Bernice Liu! Wayne Lai! Rosanne Lui! Lee Heung Kam! The series looks really good after watching the trailers. And I have a feeling Rosanne Lui is going to be eviler than Wayne Lai. Sub themes are usually the song that is inserted at the end or within the series. Sub themes should either finish off an episode perfectly or fit in with the scenes. Most sub themes are usually less dramatic compared to the theme song but viewers hear it the most since we hear it within the series a lot. If it’s inserted at the end, its probably skipped but if you really enjoy that episode, the sub theme really completes your mood. Let’s take a look at our nominees…

MY OPINION:
This is probably my favourite Raymond Lam song, probably because it has this..mysterious piano playing at the beginning which fits very well with a lot of his scenes. I felt really bad though because every time this song plays, you know Raymond Lam is sad and it makes me sad. Because its always when Raymond watches Linda with Bosco or Linda is avoiding him. WHY!!! WHY must you do this to yourself Goon Ga Jai!!! WHY!!!! But none the less, it fits really well because Ah Ho really didn’t care what Ah Chau did to him and stuff, he would always be there for her. He was willing to love her to the fullest and he didn’t mind how he was being treated. *sigh I’d drool over this guy any day* LAWL. It’s quite a nice song. And to those who were wondering, I actually didn’t pick this song but picked “Just Once.” This song seems to always complete the episodes perfectly and I love Shirley Kwan’s voice in this song =]

I got sick of 'Just Once' after a few times. Raymond's song is good but I think I just liked duets in general. It's nice to listen to more than one person's voice. And I think 'Love with No Regrets' is a little repetitive. Hahaha, and I think I like how short Grateful to have met you is. – Flor.a

IN LOVE WITH TVB PRESENTS: MOST MEANINGFUL THEMESONG 2008

Now, let’s not mistaken most meaningful theme song with best theme song. Best theme song is mainly best to listen to all the time and wouldn’t get sick of. It has nice melody and singing etc. Most meaningful theme song pretty much has most of that, but the lyrics have a very important relation to the entire series. Listening to it tells you what is going on and basically tells you the story of what is going to happen. Let’s take a look at our nominees…

1. "Accepting Fate" – Ivana Wong ft. Nancy Sit (Silver Chamber of Sorrows)

MY OPINION
I absolutely adore this song and this series!! Firstly, I like the narration at the beginning, although most complain it’s kind of weird because I thought the same thing at first. But if you were to listen to it a couple of times or were to watch the series, you’d find the narration by Nancy Sit completes the song. The song is then mainly sung by Ivana Wong who I never knew had such a voice. I thought she was the squeaky high pitch type, but was extremely surprised to find out her voice was different in this song!! Anyways back to the main reasons. After finding out what the meaning to the entire song was, I felt like the song was telling two views of the story. Nancy Sit’s monologue was the main character in the story who was trying to pursuer all the wives to simple accept that they are stuck in hell, as well as the fact that women have no freedom in that period. Ivana’s singing was representing the voices of what the women of the story were trying to do: break free. Towards the end of the song though, we know in the end, they did what Nancy [Sit] had been telling to do all along: accept fate. She had been there the longest; she’s went through the same thing and gave up. There was no point in fighting. As to who the main female lead was, it really depends on how you see it. To me, Christine Ng’s Sau Hang represents Nancy’s Siu Dip and all the other women who were unwilling to live life as it was but had eventually lost all hopes. Siu Dip had once tried but she ended up giving way to tradition. Sau Hang tries using schemeful tactics to get what she wanted…she wanted to prove fate is ruled by humans. But in the end..there was nothing they could do but accept fate.
